Dear ACS Desert Spirit Supporters,
Cancer mortality has dropped 3.8 million since 1991 and there is stable progress with lung, breast, and prostate cancers, but we still have so much more to do. We are seeing an increase in cancer diagnoses with young adults and less people getting cancer screenings.
This past October the Rick Springfield family lost one of our own to pancreatic cancer. Matty Spindel, a Grammy Award winning sound engineer, was Rick Springfield's tour manager, sound engineer, and very dear friend. We have decided to dedicate this year's Lip Sync to him while raising funds for pancreatic research and patient services. Matty's love of music, positive attitude, and infectious laugh are all qualities we hope to emulate through this event.
In addition, we will be honoring actor Tristan Rogers who has tirelessly given up his time, energy, and talent to every American Cancer Society event in which he has been asked to volunteer.
So, won't you please join Rick Springfield, Tristan Rogers, and all who are willing to Rock Out to help Knock Out Cancer at this year's Lip Sync for a Cure.
Thank you dearly,
Melissa Neiderman and Garyk Lee
