Artist Statement: Face pointing to the east grabbing the last rays as the sun descends. Hair full of jewel tone flowers shining in the last of the sun light. Embracing the power being washed upon her as the power of night slides into the world. Foliage clinging onto specs of light. She carries the energy of the sun as the world is engulfed into darkness. Bringing light to those around her, sharing with all who may struggle to see it on their own.
Artist Statement: This piece is one of my favorites, so simple but brings a lot to see visually. The girlfriend hoops and red lipstick are items I grew up with that brought power to the wearer. Flowers adorning her head like a crown. All these items together scream Yes Queen!
Artist Statement: Anatomical heart surrounded by Kansas field tones. A variety of shades of browns, slew of tans and creams with flecks of lavender and pink rosettes. The prairie is a magical place that some assume is flat. Not seeing the complex ups and downs of the rolling hills. The Prairie sunrise and sets bringing life to the hill tops. The warm wheat grass straws and occasional flowers swaying in the wind.
Medium: acrylic yarn

Artist Statement: I am a multidisciplinary artist who seeks to make connection to others, self, mind and body through creation. My work is inspired by being a cisgendered, Black woman in America, as well as the beauty that can be found when we hold ourselves and other in absolute positive regard. It is my hope to inspire others to have introspective opportunities and embody their power and love through artistic creation.
