My name is Evelyn. My memories are of my maternal grandmother, Matilda. She was a wonderful cook and she lived in Indianapolis, IN. She was just so special. She was soothing and could always put my mind at ease. Every time we were sick, she came to take care of us. I had lots of brothers and sisters, but she always came. There was Anita, Harry, me, Ruth, Mary, Don, and Sylvan. She took care of anyone who needed it, not just us. I can still remember her trying to climb the fence to get over to us. When I was about 12 and got strep throat, she said to my grandfather "Jerry, you dirty Irishman, you have to let me get over that fence to help take care of Evelyn." Matilda was my wonderful, beautiful grandmother. I love her.

His vast knowledge ranges through all species, but he holds a special love and interest in Bumble Bees, helping to get the Rusty Patch Bumble Bee onto the endangered species list.

Ruth grew up on a farm near Thomson, IL. Ruth met her husband, Robert, later in life and they were married on February 13th, 1971. Ruth and Robert used to go in and help Wanda, the Admin. Asst., at First Lutheran with folding the bulletins. Wanda stated that as long as she had known Ruth, Ruth has worn shirts with cats on them or cat pins. Ruth and Robert always had cats over the years. Ruth told me that you have to have at least 2 cats because they need a friend - kind of like her and Robert. Where one goes, so does the other. Ruth and Robert reside together at New Friendships Memory Care and they attend all activities together. Ruth's painting is a memory of her days on the farm. Ruth would always feed the kitties some fresh milk after her parents were done with milking for the day.

I asked Betty what she liked to do when she was a kid. She said she was naughty and made a big mess. She then picked up the paintbrush and started painting with her favorite color, red. She started to draw this rose garden. She said she never grew flowers, but she liked them. When she was done with this painting, I showed it to her daughter. Her daughter told me that red roses were her favorite flower. They were the flowers at Betty's wedding. Whenever her dad would buy her mom flowers, they were always red roses.

It took Brad almost 25 hours to creat this piece. Made with curly maple, purple heart and purple ebony, purple is the Alzheimer's Association's signature color. The Swedish laminated steel is just as strong and unrelenting in the fight against Alzheimer's disease as we are.

Little did they know that they would receive a gift providing them with a trip of a lifetime from John's sister and brother-in-law. They were shocked to find out they were gifted a seven day cruise around the Hawaiian Islands. They sailed on the former U.S. Independence Military Ship that was converted into a cruise ship. Barbara said they saw were Elvis filmed "Blue Hawaii", the Pearl Harbor Memorial, and pineapple and macadamia nut farms. Her favorite part of the trip was swimming with sea turtles. Barbara still has some shell jewelry from the trip. They renewed their vows 7 times!
