What is a Beefsteak Dinner?

A Beefsteak Dinner is a casual, fun-filled "all you can eat and on tap beer dinner" of Filet Mignon served on French Bread, Beer, French Fries, Salad & Dessert. (Chicken or Stuffed Shells are also available, but MUST be pre-ordered.) There's a long-standing East Coast tradition of Beefsteak fundraisers.

What about the Centerpiece Competition?

Believe it or not, a Beefsteak dinner centerpiece competition is all about the bread!  Guests at each table will use the bread served with their dinner to build a centerpiece. One table will win BEST Centerpiece bragging rights.

Are there Centerpiece rules?

Yes!  See the section below dedicated to centerpiece rules.

What's a Wine Pull?

For a $25 donation on the day of the  Beefsteak Dinner,  you can "pull" a bottle of wine.  Some of the donated wine is valued at $90; the remainder is valued at $20 to $90.  Every person who participates in the Wine Pull (MUST BE 21 or older) receives a bottle of wine. See the section below dedicated to the Wine Pull.

Is Babysitting Available?

What do you wear to a Beefsteak Dinner?

Attire is casual.

I can't attend this year's Beefsteak Dinner.  Can I still be involved?

Sure! You can sponsor a faculty member or donate a bottle of wine.  Contact the Advancement Office at

Centerpiece Competition Rules

The Centerpiece Competition involves tables/teams constructing  a centerpiece for their table. The centerpiece is constructed using any of the non-eaten bread served with the beefsteak. Typically, guests at each table plan in advance of the dinner to determine what they will build and what supplies they will need. The more creative the better!! Our esteemed judges will tour the tables and select three (3) winners based on Creativity, Funniest and Team Spirit!

NOTE: The Centerpiece game is OPTIONAL and tables are not required to participate.

  • Bread MUST be used (the more bread the more points)!
  • Nothing can be pre-constructed. The centerpiece MUST be put together the night of the Beefsteak.
  • Teams can bring ANY outside materials they would like to use to construct their masterpiece.
  • NO outside bread allowed!
  • Costumes/attire to support the centerpieces are encouraged!

Centerpiece Themes:

The theme can be ANY theme your table chooses. Select a theme and then build your centerpiece around it!

Be CREATIVE, be COLLABORATIVE, and most of all HAVE FUN!!!!

All About the Wine PULL

On the night of the Beefsteak Dinner, Wine Pull participants (MUST BE 21 or older)  will have the opportunity to choose a random bottle of wine for $25.  Each bottle will be in a bag so that participants will have no idea which wine they're pulling.

You might walk home with a bottle that costs less than the $25 you donated or it could be priced significantly higher than what you paid!  What a fun way to support Lacordaire!

DONATE a bottle of wine for the WINE PULL

Please donate a bottle of wine for the wine pull that is at least a $20 value.

Drop off wine at the Advancement Office in James Hall at drop-off or pick-up any school day or email to make arrangements.

Thursday, February 2nd is the last day to donate a bottle of wine.
