Alan founded Sightline Institute to advance long-term solutions to our region's most significant challenges. IslandWood board member Sara Moorehead and her partner Jeffrey Ratte will host you for a dinner at their home in Seattle's Georgetown neighborhood while Alan engages you on where sustainability intersects with environmental health and social justice. Food and menu will be prepared by the IslandWood kitchen team.

An Astronomical Adventure

Enjoy a nighttime adventure with an astronomer from Battle Point Astronomical Association using a Digitalis Dome. Together, with your guide, you and your group of 6 will explore and observe constellations, stars, and planets with the 27-inch Ritchie Telescope, the largest publicly accessible telescope in the Pacific Northwest!
Following your stargazing, you'll head to the IslandWood campus Guest Cottage (sleeps 4 adults and 2 kids) for your overnight stay drifting off to the hoot of Barred owls and a chorus of frog calls. Your stay includes a midnight snack prepared by the IslandWood team and a morning breakfast basket and coffee delivered to your room. Come wish upon a star!
Restrictions: The date is by mutual arrangement May through September 2023 and is subject to weather, so please have alternate dates in mind. Viewing starts at dusk and the session will last approximately 3 hours. IslandWood's Guest Cottage has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and a twin bed, and the other bedroom with a queen bed and one twin.
