McNicol draws inspiration from writer Siri Hustvedt's illuminating book A Plea for Eros. In the book, Hustvedt describes "yonder" as a word that shifts and moves, implying distance between one place and another. "Blue" similarly holds multiple associations honesty and melancholy.
