What is Giving Tuesday?

#GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world. You can view more about Giving Tuesday on their website here.

Where Does My Donation Go?

The money goes to one of two places - Our two charity partners which are Special Olympics of Chicago, and Advocate Children's Heart Institute. The second place your donation goes is straight to our sponsor family of the Curve Ball, The Ryan Family. With the exception of the two administrators which are paid hourly, our charity is made up of all volunteers that get compensated by smiles.

Why Donate to OFTK?

One for the Kids is celebrating 30 years of giving this year. Established in 1993 by a group of concerned individuals who wanted to make a difference, the organization's first event at Old Oaks Golf course raised a few thousand dollars. Since that time we have raised over $2,00,000 to give to several different charities in Chicagoland area directly. Our established relationships ensure that all money donated is being put directly into the hands of those in need. Our Curve Ball cocktail event allows us to make donating even more personal by highlighting a family in need, this year the Ryan Family, and giving a percentage of all money raised right into the hands of the family.

Please, make your gift today! Can't donate at this time? No problem! Spread the word to friends and family by sharing our campaign.

The Ryan Family

Lucy (10) and Winnie (5) Ryan have an extremely rare form of mitochondrial disease which is a progressive disease that causes physical, developmental, and cognitive disabilities. Experts have indicated that less than 20 people in the world are currently known to have mito with the FDXR gene mutation. Given the rarity of their condition, medical research is in its infancy. Lucy is now legally blind and is starting to lose her hearing. Winnie also cannot walk on her own, is developmentally delayed, has limited speech, and shows other symptoms similar to Lucy. Kevin and Maura Ryan face numerous medical expenses due to testing, treatments, and hospital stays. Both girls undergo physical, occupational, speech, and vision therapies. They require wheelchairs, hearing aids, and vision magnifier. Together, we can make a difference for the Ryan family!
