Shirley Lavorato - Event Founder, Sponsorship Chair, and Honoree in 2017
Shirley Lavorato was involved in philanthropy and civic volunteering for many years. Her role on the Celebration of Life Committee was always sponsorship chair. Shirley once said, "I am pleased and honored to say I was a founding member of Celebration of Life 26 years ago!" Shirley was a cancer survivor; she was a true believer and passionate about the cause and work of the American Cancer Society. She felt that her endeavors may make a small contribution to eradicating this dreadful disease and helping the Society. Shirley enjoyed traveling and can boast that she cruised most of the world. When not traveling, she loved live theatre and spending time with her family and friends. The most important person was her husband, Sam, whom she would quickly tell you was her soul mate and the love of her life. She felt that her greatest achievements were her three wonderful sons. She had five adorable grandsons and one beautiful granddaughter. Shirley also adored her daughters-in-law. Those who knew Shirley, feel a great loss of a friend.
