Tempera Triangles - "Carefree"
Our fifth graders learned firsthand how entwined art and mathematics can be with this colorful assemblage of tempera triangles. Students began by segmenting their work surface into 16 small triangles using a straightedge. Then, they used tempera paint to create a pattern using their choice of four colors. Next, the triangles were cut out and individually arranged into a design agreed upon by the homeroom. The resulting pieces are as unique as each class, framed, and ready to hang.
Dimensions: 36H x 27.5W
Tempera Triangles -"The Vortex"
Dimensions: 36.5H x 32.5W
Tempera Triangles -"Moving Pieces"
Dimensions: 29.5H x 29.5W
Tempera Triangles -"Landscape Beauty"
Dimensions: 36H x 31.5W
Fly So High
When our current seventh graders were in fifth grade, they each created a feather adorned with a word of personal importance. The feathers were then assembled as wings to symbolize the collective values with which our students can soar. All students who joined this cohort this year or last have also been included in the designs, which are now grouped in homeroom pairs.
Note: Most of the artwork for these pieces were created pre-pandemic but not able to be showcased when the world took a pause. Special thanks to Rachel Mason (former HNC Art Teacher) for keeping the artwork safe and secure until we could share it with our FXW families. Dimensions: 25.25H x 16.25W
