Kevin Cole received his B.S. from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, an M.A. in art education from the University of Illinois at Urbana, and an M.F.A. from Northern Illinois University where he was a Rhoden Smith Scholar . Within the last 32 years, he has received 27 grants and fellowships, 66 awards in art, 51 teaching awards. On February 1, 2022, he received a Proclamation from the City of
South Fulton proclaiming February 1, 2022, Kevin Cole Day. He just received the Working Artist Fellowship from the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia. In December Mr. Cole received the 2020 Governor's Award for the Arts and Humanities in the State of Georgia and the 2019 Nexus Award from the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center in Atlanta. In July he received the Working Artist
Fellowship from MOCAG. In April Mr. Cole received the Art Aspiration Award by the National Society Incorporation for his dedication to students' achievements. The 2020 Trail Blazer Award from Salem
Bible Church, in Atlanta, GA.

His artwork has been featured in more than 490 exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad. Cole's artwork is included in more than 4000 public, private, and corporate collections throughout the United States and abroad. About the Artist:

Donald Robson is a visual artist living and working in Atlanta for the past twenty years. Born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Don received his Bachelor's of Fine Arts Degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1986. Don has also studied at the Scuola Lorenzo DeMedici in Florence Italy in 1985. He received his Masters of Fine Arts Degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.

In the early Nineties Don relocated to Atlanta and has been exhibiting his paintings, drawings and mixed media constructions at various venues locally, across the United States as well as internationally. Don's work is represented in collections in Pennsylvania, Georgia, California, Florida and Rhode Island. Don also has designed and created furniture, sculpture and unique display systems for locations throughout the country and places as far away as Aruba and the United Arab Emirates.

About the Artist:

I find the inspiration for my art in things close to home, or especially dear to me. Within each of our lives there are universal experiences, common yet set apart, ordinary while consummately extraordinary, mundane while sacred. These kinds of ordinary experiences that have such simplistic beauty make up the majority of my existence. The role of caregiver is central to my life and my art. This is the most important thing I do. My intent for my art is to visually examine my intellectual and emotional responses to the experience of being a homemaker, wife, mother and teacher-the server rather than the served. I also address formal issues that center around the play of light on forms. Through the manipulation of light I strive for an equilibrium between representation and abstraction. The relationship between light and shadow is the focus of this manipulation. The still life of ordinary household objects is often my choice for this expression. I choose to use still-life subjects with which I interact several times a day and therefore have the opportunity to observe throughout that daily cycle of light. Also by using everyday common objects as the subject of my work, I hope to bring awareness and honor to the role of caregiver. Caregiving is often unpaid labor that our society does not value. My work is an attempt to open the viewers' eyes to see the ordinary as extraordinary. My choice for medium is almost always something in the printmaking field, but I often incorporate other mediums as well such as the computer, photography or hand coloring.

Geo Sipp is the Director of the School of Art and Design at Kennesaw State University. Enrollment at the School of Art and Design has grown to over 1000 students, making it the largest unit in the College of the Arts. The School continues to grow by offering students a rigorous fine arts education as well as applied design programs, including, Graphic Communications, a BAT in Apparel Textiles Technology, a BFA in Digital Animation and concentration areas of study in Illustration as well as Sequential Art. In keeping with the university's focus on Global Engagement, the School of Art and Design has a formal articulation agreement with Ecole Supérieure des Arts (esa) Saint-Luc Bruxelles. ESA St. Luc is one of the renowned design schools in Europe, with particularly strong programming in Illustration, Sequential Art and Graphic Design.

Geo Sipp is an artist and illustrator who has worked for top international advertising agencies and clients, and his work has been published by many of the leading newspapers, magazines and book publishers in the United States and abroad. Among his clients include: ABC Television, Atlanta Ballet, BBDO Advertising, BellSouth, Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, Fortune, General Electric, Harris Corporation - Trans-Siberian Railroad, Los Angeles Times, Metropolitan Opera, National Football League, Newsweek, New York Times, Reader's Digest, Sports Illustrated, St. Martin's Press, Time-Warner, United States Postal Service, U.S. News & World Report and the Walt Disney Company. Geo's research and scholarship on sequential art has appeared in numerous national and international peer-reviewed publications and has resulted in international speaking engagements and exhibitions. His current work is primarily intended for inclusion in a graphic novel entitled Wolves in the City, which has the French-Algerian War as its subject.

His work has been exhibited at the Adam Baumgold Gallery in New York, Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art, Weinberger Fine Arts in Kansas City, the Algerian Cultural Ministry in Algiers, Algeria, Clemson University, International Print Center, New York, McClung Museum at the University of Tennessee, Sharjah Museum of Art in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama, Vero Beach Museum of Art, Vero Beach, Florida and the Zuckerman Museum of Art at Kennesaw State University. Making color pencil drawings replaced painting for me fifteen years ago, but the processes are similar in that each drawing requires its own painterly invention to describe surfaces and to create effective illusions. My interests sometimes wander as I am lured away by the pleasures of irony: combining pop culture icons with facsimiles of traditional works of art, the prosaic and the precious. But I always return to making portraits of ordinary things, mostly utilitarian objects that come my way. They seem to find me. Some are even the vestiges of my former work as a painter. I meticulously record the beauty of their wear as my way of honoring their often unknowable histories. The drawings combine my knack for realism with my minimalist sensibilities.

About the Artist:

Andrew Crawford was born in Chatham, New Jersey in 1970. He moved to Atlanta with his parents and two older brothers in 1971. Crawford's youthful artistic endeavors included works in clay, drawing, and music. Andrew's grandmother, recognizing his enthusiasm, encouraged him, along with his parents who allowed him to set up a workshop in his home.

Crawford attended the Rhode Island School of Design where he studied sculpture. After graduating in 1993, he returned to Atlanta and opened his workshop and studio, the Andrew T Crawford Ironworks. His goal was to create functional objects with an emphasis on blacksmithing. As Crawford built his business and his clientele, he continued to receive attention for his unique ornamental gates. This format has consistently been an identifiable trait throughout his career.

Along with dozens of private commissions, Crawford has created ironwork and sculpture for schools, businesses, and municipalities. Some of his most prominent works have been for the Atlanta Botanical Garden, the Federal Reserve Bank, and the City of Washington D.C. His works are also among the collections of several American museums.

Crawford currently employs four full-time craftsmen who collaborate with him in making sculpture and functional objects of original design. He lives in a small in-town neighborhood with his two young children.

Temme Barkin-Leeds received the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Georgia State University

and a Master of Fine Arts degree from American University in Washington, DC. Her socially conscious work has been the subject of four solo exhibitions and has been included in numerous exhibitions throughout the United States. She was a Fellow at the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, NH and a Resident Fellow at the Hambidge Center. In addition, Barkin-Leeds received the Elizabeth Baaart Biddle Award conferred by the full faculty in the MFA program at American University, Washington DC. She also received the International Education Foundation Scholarship from Georgia State University to study at the Santa Reparata International School in Florence, Italy. She was nominated by the faculty in the Art Department at Georgia State University for the school-wide Andrew West Award. In the past several years, she has been juried into New York exhibitions by critics Jerry Saltz, John Yau, and Nancy Princenthal. She has received numerous exhibition awards including purchase awards and awards of merit. She was selected by the Georgia Women's History Month Committee and the Georgia Commission on Women to be honored at a reception highlighting Georgia women in the arts. She was the State of Georgia's representative on the Millennium "Gift to the Nation" Committee of the Friends of Art and Preservation in Embassies in Washington, DC. Most recently, she was adjunct professor at Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia. Her work was featured in several publications including the Atlanta Journal and Constitution, Burnaway, Arts Atl, Atlanta Jewish Times, Amlit, Paintpresent catalogue published by Loudon House Gallery, Lexington, Kentucky and Bound catalogue published by Women's Caucus for Art.

Encaustic, meaning "to burn in," was developed in the first century by the Egyptians, Romans and the Greeks. About the Artist:

Mark Rixon Cerny was born in Upstate New York in 1969. At an early age, Mark showed a genuine interest in antiques. In first grade, he dug up old 19th century bottles and metal utensils with his brothers in his backyard woods. He loved his family's old leather bound books and set of three 18th century Windsor chairs. His early respect for history was evident through his interest in antique objects and the wondeful stories told on their behalf.

As a young man in the 1990's living in Atlanta, Georgia, Mark collected all types of antiques. His collection consisted mostly of antique trunks. The more of them he collected, the more he understood the impracticality of using them in today's world, especially given the shape is often dome top or camel back. Most often these precious trunks are discarded to the basements, attics, and garages of homes because people cannot place objects on top of them. Inspired by this problem, Mark began building his first trunk lid, wood and glass framed table tops in 2002.

Mark "recycles" antique trunks into functional, high-end furniture tables that open for storage. He custom builds trunk lid table top assemblies and leg assemblies for each trunk he turns into a table. Once attached to the trunk (now a table), these assemblies transform the trunk by giving it a nice, bold stance, as well as protecting it from top to bottom. As a table off the ground, the trunk also becomes easier to view and appreciate for generations to come.

Mark believes that the antique trunk, in 100% original condition, is the true art. His artistry is in maintaining the integrity and beauty of such by complimenting and respecting the trunk's "age-earned" patina, and not overwhelming it. His tables are subtle in design and finish, as they must blend into the colors and textures of the overall antique condition of the trunk. Getting this right, along with scale and proportion, flush and level surfaces and flowing legs, is challenging for him. However, this challenge is met by his fascinated determination and high attention to detail. Mark's endless goal is to showcase and preserve beautiful antique trunks the best way he knows how.....by turning them into tables!

About the Artist:

Matthew Terrell writes, photographs, and creates videos in the fine city of Atlanta. Terrell's work can be found regularly on VICE, Slate, Huffington Post, and Mic.com, where he covers subjects such as the queer art in the South, media culture, and gay mens' health issues. Previous works by the artist include "Atlanta's HIV+ Population Now" at The National Center for Civil and Human Rights, which used CDC data to chart HIV growth in Atlanta; as well as "We All Live With HIV," which was a series of publicly displayed mirrors printed with this message. He has been an artist in residence at Djerassi, Atlantic Center for the Arts, Serenbe, and The Studios of Key West. In 2014, Terrell found a forgotten fragment of a Keith Haring mural at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta-it was his most proud achievement. Terrell received his BFA and MFA in writing from Savannah College of Art and Design; he also has an MA in communications from Georgia State University. Terrell currently works as the communications director for Dad's Garage Theatre, where he helps to publicize a bunch of knucklehead improvisational actors.

About the Artist:

Carl Linstrum's professional experience spans a broad range, including his work as an internationally exhibiting painter, through nearly twenty years as a gallery owner and art consultant, and into his current position as a professor in the School of Foundation Studies at SCAD Atlanta. He received his BA in Printmaking from The University of South Florida in 1992 and his MFA in Drawing and Painting from Georgia State University in 2002.

In his role as a professional artist, Carl has accumulated an extensive exhibition record, participating in solo and group exhibitions regionally, nationally and internationally in galleries, museums and universities. His drawings and paintings have been collected into numerous private, corporate and public collections throughout his career. As owner of Aliya Linstrum Gallery from 1992 until 2009, Mr. Linstrum represented a highly respected stable of artists working in all media. He worked closely with these artists, securing commissions and curating exhibitions with the intent of aggressively developing their careers as professionals in their field. During these years, Carl also served on the board of the Atlanta Gallery Association, whose goal was to promote the active visual arts community in Atlanta and highlight the city's role as the cultural capital of the South. Since joining SCAD Atlanta in 2009, he has taught a full range of drawing and design courses in the School of Foundation Studies and the School of Fine Arts.

Carl Linstrum lives and works in Atlanta with his wife and two daughters.

Monek Harris was born in Peoria IL, in 1966. Growing up in Peoria, she describes herself as having always possessed a naturally creative spirit as long as she can remember. From
creative hair styling as a kid, to painting, leather crafting,woodworking, and any DIY project she could get her hands on.

Monek was introduced to the technique of beading using semi-precious stones more than 20 years ago by one of her best friends. Over the years she has traveled around the globe taking classes, attending gem &
jewelry shows, and seeking unique semi-precious stones from local area bead shops.

Some of her fascinating adventures include her most recent trip to the Tucson Gem Show in Arizona, the Pearl Market in Beijing China, Chatachuk Weekend Market in Bangkok Thailand, markets in India, Senegal,
and South Africa. It wasn't long before beading became the gateway to her love of metalsmithing. Monek enrolled in
her first metalsmith class at the Morean Arts Center in St. Petersburg, Florida in 2015 and soon discovered her fascination with the art of the torch and fabricating beautiful hand-made jewelry pieces out of sheet and wire metal. She learned fabrication skills to take a flat sheet of copper or sterling silver using a torch, specialty hammers, and various other metalsmithing techniques, and turning the sheet into a beautiful work of art. Monek continually enrolls in metalsmithing classes as new techniques continue to inspire her to create.

She started Black Girl On Fire jewelry 2018 where her focus is on creating metal jewelry; however,you can still find beautiful, beaded pieces which are also incorporated in her pieces. Her jewelry is currently exhibited at the Morean Arts Center in St. Petersburg, FL and throughout various shows and pop-up markets in the Atlanta area. Monek is a member of the Metal Arts Guild of Georgia and founder of Strange Fruit Arts Center, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting and supporting African American artists. She describes her love of the process in "connecting from her heart, extended
through her hands, to the final product at the delight of clients wearing each unique work of art. "

About the Artist:

There is a conventional thought that the Pop Art movement existed from the mid 1950's until the late 1970's, but for Brennan, the movement never ended. The idea that the utilitarian objects surrounding us can be seen as beautiful art is what drives him. He sees potential in creating art by combining unrelated objects and uniting them with color and spatial harmony thereby bringing more meaning than simply the means of necessity and convenience.

Brennan's process begins with either stretched canvas or plywood panel which may support a collage of vintage literature and technical drawings building the background with color and geometric suggestion. Over that, images are built up with pencil, charcoal, ink, acrylic and oil. These are the images of objects that challenge the existing notions of the objects that attend our daily existence. Large scale works extend to seven feet by nine feet.

Brennan was awarded "Best in Show" at the Old Fourth Ward Arts Festival, in Atlanta in 2016, and at the Big Four Show, in Louisville in 2017. In 2018 he was the featured artist at the Fine Art for Ocala Festival.

Education and Background

Gregory Blount is a native of Athens, Georgia and began painting in Atlanta over 20 years ago as a pastime from his practice as an environmental lawyer and partner at a major Atlanta law firm. His art education began with evening classes associated with the Woodruff Arts Center and Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), among other clinics. He enrolled in the Master of Fine Arts program at SCAD in 2016. After completing his first quarter of work he was compelled to withdraw from the program for professional reasons.

His work has been collected and sold at many nonprofit galas including The Atlanta Opera Ball, The Atlanta Ballet Ball, Weekend for Wildlife at Sea Island, the Georgia Conservancy's ecoBenefete and Georgia Lawyers for the Arts. Most recently, he has joined a collaboration of artists at the Chatt Hills Gallery at Serenbe, where his work is shown and sold.

Artistic Approach

Compelling art asks open-ended questions of the viewer. Art should be a negotiation with the viewer, just as the artist must negotiate with paint and canvas in making art.

Much of his early work was inspired by wildlife and natural subjects. In recent years his art has been influenced by movement and dance, based on associations with the Atlanta Ballet and Terminus Modern Ballet Theater. His work incorporates political and social themes as well.

Greg is also a member of the Arts Club of Washington, DC and the Atlanta Artists Center.

About the Artist:

Masud is a Fine Artist, Illustrator, Digital Artist, and self-taught Animator and Digital Sculptor. As a very young child in Brooklyn, New York he had a special talent for drawing. He went on to formally develop his talent at the Art and Design High School in New York City. Masud continued his formal art training at Parsons School of Design in New York City, where he earned his Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree in 1991. He earned his Master's in Art Education from City University of New York (CUNY) in 1999.

Masud's fine art primarily consists of acrylic on canvases and mixed media on paper. His style is very vibrant as he uses complimentary, primary colors in a simplistic way. "For most of my paintings, I use primary colors to express life's simplicity?I pair complementary colors to display harmony?For harmony to exist there has to be a perfect balance?" Besides producing fine art paintings, Masud is fascinated with the idea of bringing his creations to life through digital animation.

Masud currently resides in Greater Atlanta Metropolitan Area with his wife and two small children. Some of his work can be found at the Westside Market in Atlanta. Masud has been working as a full-time Art Instructor for over 25 years in NYC Public Schools, Georgia Public Schools and private institutions. He is dedicated to fostering a positive learning environment and helping students to develop their artistic abilities through a variety of visual art media.

About the Artist:

Jane Erwin creates art in clay, metal and wood. Her major body of work is the vessel form in s oneware, created by slab construction. These vessels are soda fired creating an atmosphere of translucent colors and textures. Her art is inspired by the landscapes once visited, as one
observes the geographical references to the Southwest canyon lands and the Atlantic coast int he color and surface texture of her glazes.

As Curator of Media for the University Museum of Southern Illinois at Carbondale, she was
exposed to Southwest Indian ceramic art and the pottery of the Anasazi.

A graduate of Kennesaw State University School of Art and Design, she completed her BFA in Ceramics. In 2021, she received a Fellowship at Hambidge Center for the Creative Arts and Sciences. Her ceramic vessels are exhibited in the Annual Juried Artists Collective Spartanburg in SC. 2019, 2021, 2022.
She supports the Georgia Lawyers for the Arts' Annual Gala with ceramic art: 2019, 2021,

About the Artist:

Linda Mitchell is an American artist whose mixed media animal paintings and installations have been featured in over 20 solo exhibitions at museums in the United States.

She was born in Atlanta, Georgia in a family that nurtured her early interest in both animals and making art. Her mother bred cocker spaniels, and Mitchell was encouraged by a great-aunt who taught music, art and drama. As a child, she started painting, making animal figures, and sewing, all of which informed her work as a mature artist.

She received a BFA from UGA, and 2 MFAs from GSU in painting and sculpture. In graduate school she developed a visual language combining her painted and sculptural imagery, resulting in mixed media paintings and installations that are complex and dream-like. The artist's intuitive approach allows poetic meaning to emerge from the highly textural layering of painted and other diverse materials.

Arthur Secunda is an internationally renowned artist whose career has spanned five decades. His one man shows have been seen worldwide in numerous galleries and museums in France, Sweden, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Israel, and Japan. In the United States, he is represented in most major museums of the country, including the National Gallery of Art and the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C., the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the UCLA Museum, the Detroit Art Institute, and the Phoenix Museum. Known for his brilliant collages and striking graphics, Secunda has mastered all types of printmaking, even making his own paper in France and Japan. His impressive body of work includes painting, mixed media, polyester assemblage, ceramics and welded sculpture. His studies began at the Detroit Art Institute as a teenager, and continued in New York at the Art Students League and New York University. After a stint in the Air Force as an artist, he then studied, thanks to the GI bill, in Mexico, Paris and Italy, with many great artists and teachers, beginning a lifelong propensity for travel-- living and working in other countries. For decades, he maintained studios in Paris and LA.

He considers himself a landscape artist, and has developed his own iconography in representing nature, the land and its forms, as well as corresponding inner landscapes. He is known for a specific kind of color gradation and blending of forms in many media. His work tends to oscillate between the serene--striated colors in landscapes--to the expressive, as in many of his oil paintings.

After years in Paris, Secunda has maintained a studio in Scottsdale for the last decade--doing what he has done in all of the other places he has liv ed and worked in the last 50 years--creating imagery.

He has worked as a jazz musician--in Paris in the early days to support himself, and as a milkman; as an art critic, lecturer, curator, writer and publisher. Periodically, he consults at NASA where he is an image visualizer, helping translate scientific data into visual images. Highly respected as a teacher, he will spend August in Lacoste, France teaching a master class in collage and the creation of handmade artists books. (Secunda has an international following of people who subscribe and collect his dada art "books".)

Next year, he will have a one man exhibition at the University of Judaism in Los Angeles, presenting a never before seen series of expressive portrait monotypes of noted art personalities, after which he will exhibit early Mexican woodcuts at McMasters University in Hamilton, Ontario, in a two man display with Indian artist Mansaram Panchal.

Geo Sipp is the Director of the School of Art and Design at Kennesaw State University. Enrollment at the School of Art and Design has grown to over 1000 students, making it the largest unit in the College of the Arts. The School continues to grow by offering students a rigorous fine arts education as well as applied design programs, including, Graphic Communications, a BAT in Apparel Textiles Technology, a BFA in Digital Animation and concentration areas of study in Illustration as well as Sequential Art. In keeping with the university's focus on Global Engagement, the School of Art and Design has a formal articulation agreement with Ecole Supérieure des Arts (esa) Saint-Luc Bruxelles. ESA St. Luc is one of the renowned design schools in Europe, with particularly strong programming in Illustration, Sequential Art and Graphic Design.

Geo Sipp is an artist and illustrator who has worked for top international advertising agencies and clients, and his work has been published by many of the leading newspapers, magazines and book publishers in the United States and abroad. Among his clients include: ABC Television, Atlanta Ballet, BBDO Advertising, BellSouth, Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, Fortune, General Electric, Harris Corporation - Trans-Siberian Railroad, Los Angeles Times, Metropolitan Opera, National Football League, Newsweek, New York Times, Reader's Digest, Sports Illustrated, St. Martin's Press, Time-Warner, United States Postal Service, U.S. News & World Report and the Walt Disney Company. Geo's research and scholarship on sequential art has appeared in numerous national and international peer-reviewed publications and has resulted in international speaking engagements and exhibitions. His current work is primarily intended for inclusion in a graphic novel entitled Wolves in the City, which has the French-Algerian War as its subject.

His work has been exhibited at the Adam Baumgold Gallery in New York, Albrecht-Kemper Museum of Art, Weinberger Fine Arts in Kansas City, the Algerian Cultural Ministry in Algiers, Algeria, Clemson University, International Print Center, New York, McClung Museum at the University of Tennessee, Sharjah Museum of Art in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama, Vero Beach Museum of Art, Vero Beach, Florida and the Zuckerman Museum of Art at Kennesaw State University. His work has also been exhibited in numerous solo and group exhibitions across the United States as well as in Algeria, Belgium, China, England, France, Spain, and Tunisia. Sipp is a recipient of the Missouri Governor's Award for Excellence in Education. His artistic awards include numerous gold and silver ADDY's for his work in the field of Illustration.

Born in Chicago, IL 1963 Rae is a 6th generation painter. Her formal studies took place at The American Institute of Art in Chicago and Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Rhode Island. In the late 1980's and 1990's Rae had vibrant career as a creative director for various consumer product companies and agencies. Although painting all through those years, in 2001 Rae became a full-time painter and mixed media artist. She has continued her studies at Moulin de Perot in Southern France, Red Deer College in Alberta, Canada and Fine Arts Workshop in Atlanta, GA. Rae began teaching encaustic painting at Fine Arts Workshop in Atlanta in 2010 and has also been invited to teach at Red Deer College.

Her work has been shown in prestigious galleries in the US and notably, was accepted as one of 20 National Artists in the highly respected A.I.R. Gallery in New York in 2016.

Rae's recognitions include Platform Artist of the Year Finalist with RMG, which hosts Spectrum Miami and Art Expo New York, Mixed Media Artist of the Year at the ADC Awards in Cincinnati, OH, The Bronze Award for Painting Forward, Best in Show at JF Gallery, West Palm Beach, FL, and multiple merit awards in National Shows including the Valdosta National, Grosse Pointe Art Center, MI and the APS National Show at Chastain in Atlanta with printmaking work. Rosa McMurtray is an internationally exhibited artist who was born in Spain and currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia. Her innate artistic talent was recognized at a young age. She initially received her art education at the Zaragoza School of Art, in Spain, and further advanced her artistic studies in Italy, the U.K., and the U.S.

About the Artist:

Helen Durant's lifelong love and pursuit of art has led her on exciting travels and colorful adventures. From her early childhood in Atlanta, GA., she played outdoors in the woods and creeks surrounding her home. During adolescence she spent 3 years in school in Baltimore, Md. Durant recognized her love of nature would take her somewhere that would support her sensitivity to the animal world. As she grew into adulthood drawing was her constant companion.

From formal painting classes at the old Atlanta School of Art to her long-time studio at Goat Farm, Durant invented her own ways of translating the world around her. Though mostly informally trained, Durant honed her skills recording her life through drawing. Durant found her voice expressing the gestures, energies and spirits of those animals and people surrounding her, not with a camera, but with graphite and paper. By catching her children at play or simply reading quietly she became adept at seizing the essence of a moment, capturing a fleeting move.

Her travels have taken her to Europe, Africa and multiple journeys out to the Western United States. The landscape and the environs of these places all became fodder for Durant's later work.

From her studio at the Goat Farm, she observed the goats outside her window. The goats inspired an extended series of works, which continue to this day. A trip to New Mexico in 2003 and a safari to Kenya in 2008 stirred her spirit and added much new material from which to draw. Her love for animals has been evident throughout her career. Her concern for the environment and its wildlife has deepened into a passion for conservation. Her love of wolves and concern for the struggles they now face as result of misconceptions and myth has moved her to produce an entire body of work on the subject in the last several years. .

Helen Durant has exhibited widely in the United States. In Atlanta she has shown her work for many years in some of the best venues in the city. Her work can be seen in many public, corporate, and private collections throughout the United States and abroad. A recent relocation in 2107 to Savannah, Ga. broadened her vision to include the history and architecture of Savannah as well as the spirits of the low country.

Jim Greenwood paints as if there's no tomorrow.In fact, as his eyesight continues an inexorable decline, he is in a race against time.

Jim suffers from Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), an incurable eye disease that leaves the retina
covered with pigments and then scarred. First comes the loss of night vision. Then loss of
peripheral vision. Then loss of central vision. The retina controls the ability to read, recognize faces and colors and to see objects in detail. "Being color blind, I use only red, blue and yellow on my pallet and mix them to get the desired hue. It's the only way that works for me." He is now legally blind having only ten percent of his vision remaining.

Jim is tall, outwardly in good health, with a background in both art and athletics. For the last few years, he has been unable to drive a car. He needs assistance deciphering emails and reads from a device with copy enlarged to the maximum size. Yet, he paints. Furiously, because he has to. For decades, Jim's paintings took a back seat to his career as a graphic designer with various Atlanta ad agencies and The Coca-Cola Company.He and his wife, Gayle, raised two children, sent them off to college, and looked forward to more time at the beach and in the
mountains.

Then, adversity came calling. When Jim's condition worsened, he was forced to phase himself out of his day job. A gradual return to his passion of painting ensued. At first, there were a few landscapes. Still lifes that reminded him of the art he did for his classes at Florida State. Most of it was, in his words, "uninspiring and nothing that stood out from the crowd." He was depressed by the loss of his graphics vocation and unenthused about his art. He worried about the future and his sight. Along the way, as his vision deteriorated, something happened. His paintings became different.Reality gave way to expressionism. Details gave way to vague, indistinct images. His work became conceptual. Landscapes looked as if they were seen from behind thick glass. Yet, colors were vibrant, exaggerated. His paintings were ambiguous and hopeful at the same time.
What was happening? Jim realized that he was now painting as he saw the world. The way he was now seeing it, legally blind.
His work is stunning. It's not mere expressionism. There is form and content. Shapes are loosely defined, objects are at times unrecognizable. The effect is emotional. One wants to stare at his paintings. They are, in a way, like life is to those of us who are not legally blind- indistinct and mysterious. There is a revelation in them that truth is not in the details. Rather it is shrouded in vagueness.

In spite of his eye problems Jim has been in exhibitions throughout the U,S. and recently
concluded a two-year show at our embassy in Banjoul, The Gambia through the Art in Embassies program of our Department of State.

Lauren is an Australian living in Atlanta. Her artistic focus in Australia was working on set designs and managing theatrical productions. One set design involved painting a large canvas over 15 feet long and 12 feet high. From this experience Lauren began to explore acrylic pouring.

Lauren began to paint and experiment with the different techniques involved in creating acrylic pours. The more she painted the more she discovered her love for color. The way color 'plays' together is part of the technique of fluid art paintings. We all know that red and blue makes purple. But what does purple, orange and magenta do together on a canvas?

The use of pouring medium allows the paints to flow across the canvas as Lauren manipulates the paint using a variety of tools from breath, gravity, high pressured air, paper towels and cups to name a few tools. A paint brush is not used. Each piece is unique.

Ever since I can remember what I liked and disliked, I knew with certainty I wanted to create. I wanted to make things with my two hands. So, away from the world, wrapped in solitude too sublimely satisfying, alone with my thoughts and the universe, the place where I was free to create was my happy place.

Today, my work is an amalgamation of the very essence of what represents me: stories that are part fables, part aphorisms told through popular culture references with a sprinkle of world history all entwined on paper with glue, acrylic, and watercolor paints, as well as the occasional 3D objects (like rice or gravel or whatever else).

Every single art piece tells a story, a puzzle planted with clues and hidden meaning that the viewers are invited to dive in and discover on their own terms. What drive these stories to be told is finding purpose in life which has been "the eternal gauntlet of the artist in every country, culture, and civilization since the human hunger for truth and beauty first collided with the craving for power." But also, my intent is to challenge perceptions, reveal a different side of the same coin, or simply entertain the viewer visually and intellectually.

I'm especially intrigued by obscure personalities in the world scene that have not gotten the exposure they potentially deserve. I want to bring them back to the light; I want them to be re-discovered, their stories told once more, and along the way, I am hoping a certain richness will be added to the observers' own existence and perhaps facilitate a self-discovery of sorts.

Most of the figures appearing in my art are world-famous personalities from science, politics, arts, sports, and entertainment. Still, you may also encounter less known yet equally brilliant human specimens such as Shirley Chisholm, Vivien Leigh, Benjamin Disraeli, Alekos Panagoulis, Oriana Fallaci, Jacqui Oatley, Konstantinos Kavafis, Marchesa Luisa Casati, Viktor Frankl, and Marlene Dietrich. All of them supreme global figures brought about political, cultural, and socioeconomic changes that forever shaped the reality we all today experience.

I hope you will all find the experience as enjoyable as it was for me to create it.

About the Artist:

Branch art is not unique. Many people use branches as rustic or natural touches in their environments. What is unique is Tom Chambers' ability to join branches in a manner that looks completely natural. A combination of wood and acrylic, the pieces give the illusion of naturally flowing branches. First, the bark is stripped and the branches are sanded. Then Tom arranges the branches in an artistic pattern. The joints are created using a combination of glue, wood filler and epoxy. A base coat, acrylic paint and a sealer coat are then applied, all by brush. Each distinctive piece of art is one-of-a-kind.

Tom's interest in art began in high school where his first art classes were taught by the man who was his football and track team coach. What started as an easy elective developed into life-long creativity. His passion was ignited while attending the University of Tampa on a football scholarship. There, he studied Sculpture, Drawing and Painting. His art was put on hold after he married, began a family and entered the business world.

In 2007, after 34 years in retail, Tom took an early retirement to pursue his love of art full-time. He and his wife Brenda moved from Florida to the mountains of north Georgia. The landscape and terrain provided the ideal setting to expand upon the original branch art idea, conceived from a magazine photo and his imagination, 15 years prior.

Tom is a member of the Blue Ridge Mountains Arts Association in Blue Ridge, GA, has served on their Board of Directors in the past and began another term in January 2019. He is also a Signature Member of the Southern Appalachian Artists Guild, an organization under the umbrella of BRMAA. In January 2012, he was one of five member artists to participate in the Regional Art Exhibition at The Bascom: A Center for the Visual Arts in Highlands, NC where his piece "Midnight Blooms" was sold. Also, in 2012, he became a member of the High Country Artisans, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the local arts, located in Blairsville, GA.

In 2018, Orlando's Fall Fiesta in the Park honored Tom with an inaugural Award of Excellence. He took Third Place in 3D in the 2017 Southern Appalachian Artists Guild National Juried Show in Blue Ridge, GA where the year before he received an Award of Merit for two of the three pieces that were juried into the show. Tom has artwork in many public locations, including two commissioned pieces in the Union County Community Center, which also houses the Chamber of Commerce, located in his chosen home town of Blairsville, GA. There is a nine-piece collection in the Orlando Public Library's permanent gallery, one piece residing in the Citizen's Art Gallery at the Tifton City Hall and one piece in the capitol office of Georgia Speaker of the House, David Ralston. In February 2010, he was asked to create a centerpiece sculpture, with the theme of "Lady in Red", for the Southeastern Horticulture Show in Atlanta, GA. The incredible result was a 5' tall red ball gown made entirely of tree branches.
