Image Description: This is an image taken to accompany the short story "Cat Person" by Kristen Roupenian (Dec. 2017) in The New Yorker; the image quickly went viral after the issue's publication. The photographer used an actual couple as her subjects for the shoot.


Photographer's Bio: Fine art photographer Elinor Carucci was born in Jerusalem; her work has been included in many solo and group exhibitions worldwide and appeared in publications internationally. Her work is in the collections of MoMA, The Jewish Museum, the Brooklyn Museum and many others. She was awarded the ICP Infinity Award, and has won Guggenheim and NYFA fellowships. Carucci has published 4 monographs to date, Closer, Diary of a Dancer, Mother and most recently, Midlife. She teaches in the graduate program of photography at the School of Visual Arts.
