This 1993 Opus One, produced and bottled by Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild, presents a deep velvety red with a hint of purple. Showing good structure and a delicate integration of French oak, the wine's very complex nose offers scents of clove and black currant. From the world-renowned Pomerol appellation of Bordeaux, Château Bellegrave is a certified organic wine estate that makes this singular red wine from Merlot and Cabernet Franc. This second-generation estate in southern Pomerol near Castle René was founded in 1951 and has been certified organic by Ecocert since 2012. The soil profile is classic gravel and super-ferrous red clay. The 2005 Bellegrave is an easy-going Pomerol to drink now and over the next handful of years. Crushed flowers, mint, sweet red raspberry and dried herbs are nicely lifted.

This Dry Creek Vineyard's magnum of Old Vine Zinfandel presents complex, spicy notes that are unique to these historic properties. The 2017 vintage presents alluring aromatics of blackberry, boysenberry and dried cranberry with notes of cocoa powder, cardamom, vanilla bean and fine leather. On the palate, brambly layers of black cherry, blackberry and black raspberry come forward with nuances of nutmeg and white pepper. The wine is complex, with bright acidity complimented by a long, lingering finish. The tannins are structured, but soft, and lend a round, rich mouthfeel.
