Courtney is a well-known speaker in the cancer community and has expanded her advocacy work to disability awareness. She was introduced to Best Buddies while speaking at a corporate event for JLL, a commercial real estate company with a Best Buddies employment program. She was speaking at this event about invisible illness/disability and found that her experiences have similarities to those many people in the IDD community have.
Courtney has been a featured speaker for many other organizations including: The Atlantic Live, St. Jude, American Brain Tumor Association, HealthPartners, University of Minnesota and others. She customizes her speaking events for all sizes, from small book clubs to large corporate functions. Her speaking topics are always hopeful and usually include her story, tips on self-advocacy, and her ideas on a difficult gift: a gift that changes us, teaches us, motivates us, and inspires us.
Courtney passionately believes that by speaking up and building a community, those of us with invisible illness become visible and empowered. The power of friendship and advocacy is beyond measure, for when one person helps another and this is paid forward, the ripple effect can extend indefinitely.
Book clubs may take place online or in person within 20 miles of the Twin Cities area.
