Artist Statement: I decided to concentrate on the pin oak in the foreground with the Mohonk Ridge in the distance.

Artist Statement: This painting was inspired by the work of 20th century Modernist artist Giorgio Morandi whose compositions are often understated and minimalistic. I look for subtle color variations and harmonies. The cobalt blue used in this painting was hand-ground by one of my painting students.
