SummerStage is the perfect way for aspiring thespians to learn new skills, acquire invaluable insight, and, most importantly, have fun! Surrounded by like-minded peers and experienced Master Class instructors, participants leave with priceless memories and friendships, and enhance their talent in areas including acting, music, dance and set design. At the end of the program, participants apply what they learned in a performance.
The Hampton Arts Education Division regularly partners with St. Mary's and other nearby schools to offer enrichment programs and culturally broadening educational performances by both local and regional artists and performers. Previous offerings include The Barefoot Puppets, Homeschool Productions (Alice in Wonderland, Elf) Classes in Bluegrass techniques, and Visual Arts. This gift will fund a class trip to the Theatre or Visual Arts Center for an educational and fun experience.
The successful HomeSchool Arts program produces two mainstage shows a year for the area's vast homeschool community. With more than 40,000 homeschoolers, Virginia is one of the top homeschooling locations. During the HomeSchool Arts program, children ages 7-17 have the opportunity to hone their skills as an actor, or learn the in's and out's of backstage work. Studies show that Homeschooled children are offered more time per school year for arts education, your support gives them that chance now!
This gift will support set making, costume needs, regular classroom supplies and stocking up on materials for upcoming programs for The American Theatre as well as the Charles H. Taylor Visual Arts Center. Supplies needed every year include fabric, paint, wood, tools, etc. Our hands-on, creative approach to education allows our students to gain more than just textbook knowledge. Help provide a hands-on educational experience today!
