Recurve Fighter Knife by Rudy Dean

Every detail is perfection on this hand made knife.

This frame handled S-guard knife is hand forged from 1075 high carbon bar stock and heat treated to a 59 Rockwell hardness.

The blade is distell tapered and ground in a recurve shape to create a lightweight and fast action fighter.

The large S-guard and the handle frame were hand forged from a reclaimed spike originally used in an old horse drawn field harrow.

A deep glossy blue-black finish was created on the steel parts with hours of hand sanding and polishing followed by a bath in molten gun bluing salts.

The fitted handle scales are the outer "bark" pieces carved from an ancient wooly mammoth tusk.

The tusk was dug up in Siberia and legally marketed in the United States. The scales are each held to the black handle frame with six stainless steel pins. The entire handle assembly is mechanically held to the blade via a hand made ferule nut that is threaded onto the blade tang which extends all the way through the handle.

The knife is held upright for presentation on a stand made from a cross section of the same tusk which held the handle pieces. The tusk cross section has been cast in transparent blue resin to fill the natural voids and to prevent any further deterioration over time.

The overall knife length is 11-3/4 inches with a blade length of 6-3/4 inches.
