Once on the tee box, you know where you have to play every shot. Edgewood is a straightforward course. Our max yardage of 6,537 can be deceiving. Edgewood still presents a formidable challenge to better players. Hitting a shot on the green does not necessarily mean a two-putt par. In fact, if the conditions are dry, and the pin placements are in proper spots, three-putts and four-putts are not uncommonly mentioned in the Donald Ross Grille after a round.

About Allegheny Mountain Hardwood Flooring: Allegheny Mountain Hardwood Flooring (AMHF) is a fourth generation, family owned and operated business located just north of Pittsburgh in Emlenton, PA. They use FSC Certified lumber to create finely crafted hardwood flooring and specialize in Rift & Quarter Sawn flooring. AMHF is the original manufacturer of Live Sawn.
Rift & Quarter Sawn Lumber is created by cutting a log into quarters and sawing boards from each quarter from the inside out. The process of quarter sawing will create both quarter sawn and rift sawn boards. The way the log is cut determines the angle of the annual growth rings in relation to the face of the board. This dictates the look and dimensional stability of that board.
History of Rift & Quarter Sawn
In the late 1800s and early 1900s, quarter sawn was popular in flooring, furniture, and interior woodwork. The old timers used this lumber for its dimensional stability & beauty. The mills would cut the logs as radial sawn for 100% quarter sawn. This created a lot of waste and was very time-consuming.
After the World Wars in the first half of the 20th century demand was high for wood and mass production was needed. Sawmills began to cut plain sawn, or flat sawn, as this lumber was much faster cut and quicker to dry. The art of cutting & drying quarter sawn was almost lost.
History of Hickman Lumber and Quarter Sawn
Hickman Lumber began cutting some rift & quarter sawn again in the 1970s, but after 2 devastating fires in the 1980s, Hickman Lumber was rebuilt to specifically cut quarter sawn with one head rig feeding a 7' Filer and Stowell Slant ban-mill using a .125 kerf and two 48" West Plains horizontal resaw using .083 kerf
Nothing of this high-value log is wasted. The "waste" created in how we cut today is significantly less than the radial cutting of the old days, and this little "waste" is utilized in other ways. See Hickman Lumber sustainability page for more details.
In the 1980s and 1990s the rift and quarter sawn lumber was sold mainly to furniture manufacturers. The Japanese furniture market demanded premium rift as they liked the straight tight grains. Our quarter sawn lumber, with the heavy fleck, was sold to Stickley Furniture in New York.

Mark Louis Recchi (/r?k?/; born February 1, 1968) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player and an assistant coach for the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League (NHL).[1] Recchi played 22 years in the NHL, winning three Stanley Cups: in 1991 with the Pittsburgh Penguins, in 2006 with the Carolina Hurricanes and in 2011 with the Boston Bruins. Anthony Drew Dorsett Sr. (born April 7, 1954) is a former American football running back who played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys and Denver Broncos.
From Western Pennsylvania, Dorsett attended the nearby University of Pittsburgh, where he led the Panthers to the national title as a senior in 1976 and won the Heisman Trophy. He was the first-round draft choice of the Cowboys in 1977, the second overall selection (from Seattle). Dorsett was the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and played for the team for 11 seasons, through 1987. He played for Denver the following year, then retired because of injuries. He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame (1994) and the College Football Hall of Fame (1994).

Alphonse Mucha was a prolific artist who produced a great deal of work throughout his lifetime, perhaps unexpectedly including a significant quantity of work produced directly for the advertising arena.
This particular piece was created in 1897 for the French company Lefèvre Utile; the previous year he had produced Biscuits Champagne Lefevre Utile for the same company and in a similar style. Biscuits Lefevre Utile is a piece which echoes Mucha's almost stylised Art Nouveau period and is, both thematically and in terms of style, as far away as possible from such works as his famous Slav Epic, or the more naturalistic work seen in his publication, Le Pater. Mucha was so associated with this elegant and intricate school of art that it was, in fact, first known as the Mucha style, before being referred to as Art Nouveau, and his mastery of the genre is very clearly evident in Biscuits Lefevre Utile which is a beautiful example of the style.
Central to the work is a flower bedecked young woman, enrobed in the typically Mucha swathes of neo-classical fabrics and with a graceful arm extending to offer a plateful of biscuits. The colours have the brightness and boldness associated with the Art Nouveau movement and the almost baroque edgings of the painting have a card like quality. The helmet of flowers which the young woman is wearing echoes, perhaps unconsciously, the figure of Marianne, the personified symbol of the French Republic. The date, 1897, is prominently displayed across the foreground of the piece in an ornate fan shaped flourish.
For those attracted to this particular mood of Mucha's art, the similarly styled Bières de la Meuse, Moët & Chandon Crémant Impérial, and Job Cigarettes are all pieces which were created for advertising and which showcase Mucha's Art Nouveau talents at their best.
