Emergency Animal Rescue Fund

Whether we need to evacuate shelters, conduct search and rescue, or care for mistreated animals, the Emergency Animal Rescue Fund (EARF) ensures that every animal has the best chance at a happy life. This dedicated fund allows us to provide the highest level of attention and ongoing care for the animals we save, and to support our shelter partners when crisis arrives at their doorstep. In 2022, the Fund gave us the resources to provide veterinary care and evacuation to animals displaced by Hurricane Ian; and to give thousands of beagles rescued out of the Envigo breeding facility a waystation before being placed with loving families through our shelter partners. Rehabilitation and Care Facility

Whether from illness, wounds or trauma, the animals we rescue sometimes need days, weeks or even months to recover. We recently opened our first dedicated care center for animals with medical and rehabilitation needs-a facility custom designed to give us the space and tools we need to bring every animal back to health so they can be placed in loving homes. The 47,000-sf facility has skylights, a fenced outdoor space, sanitizing sinks, industrial washers and dryers, and a state-of-the-art modular kennel system that can accommodate up to 400 animals at a time. Our animal health experts individually evaluate and treat every animal, assisted by veterinary specialists on complex cases. Once they are physically healed, HSUS certified trainers begin working on their emotional recovery. So far this year, we've cared for thousands of beagles rescued from a breeding facility, and 40 terrorized and wounded dogs from a large-scale alleged dog fighting ring. Your support will enable us to continue giving every animal we rescue the best possible chance at a new life.

On animal fur factory farms around the world, millions of rabbits, foxes, mink, chinchillas and raccoon dogs spend their entire lives in cramped cages, deprived of the ability to engage in natural behaviors-only to be crudely gassed or electrocuted at the end. Besides being cruel, fur farms also pose a serious risk to human health and have been linked to the spread of COVID-19. In the wild, animals are caught in crippling leghold traps for days without food or water.
