Tara Amelchenko a NJ native, moved to Brooklyn in 1996 to attend Pratt Institute, graduating with a BFA and minor in Art History. She went on to instruct at Pratt abroad in Italy while attaining her MFA for painting.
As a studio painter, Amelchenko collaborated with leading contemporary artists such as Jeff Koons, Damian Hirst, Dennis Hopper and Richard Prince while exhibiting her own artworks in NYC at Marianne Boesky Gallery, and Exit Art Gallery as well as the Noyes Museum, NJ. Her work can be found in the collections of notable patrons such as Keith Richards, Marylin Manson, Peter Wolf and Drea DeMatteo.
Her personal work remains drawn to the subconscious serene surrounding from which she was raised. A simple horizon line of the waters surface, the light and depth of that in nature is a meditative theme in her work.
Since the early 2000's Amelchenko had expanded her focus on curating through the gallery sector of the art world, exercising her vast background in art history and the industry itself.
She continues to paint while expanding Amelchenko Art + Advisory with access to the world's most sought after works by Modern masters to Contemporary icons such as Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Willem de Kooning, Mark Rothko, Helen Frankenthaler, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, Yayoi Kusama and Christopher Wool to name a few, along with the art world's most exciting new talent today.
