Peter Williams grew up in a small east coast village on the north island of New Zealand.
On a return trip to the U.S., he had a chance encounter with Richard Stone Reeves which led to a commission to paint racing scenes.
This was the beginning of his prolific career as an equine artist. He was widely considered to the the unofficial artist in residence at Churchill Downs, Keeneland, and Saratoga Race Courses.
Kentucky became his adopted home for over 25 years. His work was always executed in oil.
