"Dear Friends of Discovering Justice,
I was asked to describe the trip my wife Dina and I took to La Segreta in September 2019 after successfully bidding on this auction item at an earlier Discovering Justice gala. I do so with pleasure and enthusiasm.
First, and perhaps foremost the property is even more beautiful and charming in person than in the gorgeous photos that you may have seen showing the Farmhouse and its grounds and vineyards. The owners, Eileen and Lorenzo, are wonderful hosts and provided us with helpful information about touring the surrounding local villages - all of which have different characters and of course wonderful food and things to see. They also arranged one night for a personal chef who prepared a delicious home-cooked Italian meal at the farmhouse and at another time a wine tasting of their own wines and fantastic olive oil. Just down the road in town on another night (or perhaps it was more) we enjoyed an aperitif with the locals followed by pizza at the local pizzeria. You will enjoy Umbria which is, as one ex-pat we met describes it, "Tuscany but without the crowds." We ourselves can't wait to go back to La Segreta and will.
As a former board member of the organization, I encourage you to bid on this generous gift, which will give you years of fond memories and also benefit the students of Discovering Justice. Bring your whole family or invite friends to come along and share as we did. Best regards, John and Dina Chu."
