Roots, Rhythms, and Ritual, Janet Taylor Pickett, 1996

Janet Taylor Pickett was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She received her Bachelors of Fine Arts in 1970 and Masters of Fine Arts from The University of Michigan School of Architecture and Design in 1972. She also studied at Parsons School of Design, FIT, and The Vermont Studio School and taught as a Professor of Art at Essex County College for 31 years and Bloomfield College for 10 years in New Jersey.

Recipient of numerous grants and fellowships as well as several group exhibitions, Pickett's mixed media works are inspired by her life experience as an African American woman.
