Golden Fleece by Ralf Feyl oil on panel, 16 x 20 inches, 17 x 21 inches framed. Ralf Feyl studied with the respected Bill Parks at the American Academy of Art in Chicago. He then traveled East to study at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts and became inspired by the mysterious borderlands of the New England coast and the people who inhabit it. The Cooley Gallery offered Feyl his first exhibition in 1992 and has shown his work there ever since.
Untitled by Zbigniew Grzyb enamel, 24 x 19 inches, 26 x 21 inches framed, June 3, 2001. Zbigniew Grzyb was born in Poland and studied art at the Jaroslaw High School of Art and then the Academy of Fine Art in Krakow, Poland. In 1973, Grzyb moved to America and took up residence in New Britain where he still resides. He worked full time but continued to paint and ended up taking on the role of security guard at the New Britain Museum of American Art where he also exhibited his paintings. He has been featured in many solo and group exhibits throughout Connecticut and his works are in many museums and private collections.
Odile's Garden by Christian Peltenburg-Brechneff gouache, 13.5 x 21 inches, 17.5 x 25 inches framed, 2016. Born in the former Belgian Congo, Christian Brechneff was educated in Switzerland, England, and the United States. He received his Masters of Art degree from the Royal College of Art in London. He has won numerous awards, while his work appears in many public and private collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the National Gallery of Greece. In 2017, he was the subject of the award-winning documentary film, Like Notes of Music: Christian Peltenburg-Brechneff - The Landscape Painter, a Magee production from Switzerland, which was inspired by his memoir The Greek House.

Born in Israel, Jac Lahav grew up in Boston and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Wesleyan University in Connecticut. He studied painting at the School of Visual Arts and The Cooper Union and received his Master of Fine Arts degree from Brooklyn College, New York in 2008. His series of paintings 48 Jews and The Great Americans employ portraiture to question basic assumptions about the relationship of historical memory and collective identity. These works have been shown in several museums across the United States, including The Great Americans exhibition at the Florence Griswold Museum in 2019.

She studied at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts and has exhibited in many local gallery shows, including The Cooley Gallery, the Hoxie Gallery, the Lyme Art Association, and the Essex Art Association.
Bathing Time by Sears Gallagher (1869-1955) etching, 8 x 6.75 inches, 16.25 x 14.75 inches framed, includes 7 x 6 inch original copper plate (on back of frame). After studying in Paris, Sears Gallagher became a well-known painter, etcher, and teacher in the Boston area. He frequented Monhegan Island and was much inspired by the surrounding landscape. He has over 200 etchings in the Metropolitan Museum of Art collection, in addition to the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Honolulu Academy of Art.

He is a graduate of the Paier College of Art and is considered a protégé of Ken Davies. Theise has exhibited extensively for the past two decades. The Cooley Gallery in Old Lyme, Connecticut has held four highly successful solo shows since 1992. Theise also exhibited at Vose Galleries and the St. Botolph's Club, both in Boston. In October 2008, the New Britain Museum of American Art opened Theise's first major museum exhibition, The Eye Deceived: Paintings by Michael Theise. He is represented in many prestigious collections and galleries.
City Scene by Frederick R. Wagner (1864-1940) pastel, 8.5 x 10 inches, 15 x 16 inches framed. Born in Port Kennedy, PA in 1864, Frederick R. Wagner enrolled at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts where he served as chief demonstrator of anatomy to the life classes and studied under Thomas Eakins. He then traveled to California where he began painting before returning to Philadelphia and taking a job as illustrator for the Philadelphia Press. He often painted impressionist urban scenes and in 1912 founded the Addington School of Painting. His modernist work is sought after by many collectors of the avant-garde movement.
Orient Point Light by Pat Kelbaugh watercolor, 11 x 17.5 inches, 19 x 26 inches framed. The very essence of Pat Kelbaugh and the inspiration for her work are deeply rooted in the unique life experiences of someone born and raised in a tightly-knit fishing community along the southeastern Connecticut shoreline. A watercolorist specializing in maritime art for over thirty years, Pat's watercolors are applauded for capturing the many moods of the sea and for preserving historic landmarks. She uses a self-taught technique that she perfected under study with renowned artist Dan Gheno at Lyme Academy of Fine Arts in Old Lyme. Her work has long been exhibited in galleries throughout Connecticut and is represented in corporate and private collections all over the world.

Sandy Garvin is a native of Old Lyme who studied at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts and workshops around the country. She has exhibited at invitational shows in New England, as well as private galleries throughout the country. Her works are in many prominent collections.

Kate Avery used to renovate and sell antique furniture while selling paintings on the side, however she is now a full-time artist. She has never had any formal training however her works are heavily influenced by the Old Lyme school of Impressionists. Kate has been featured in The Hartford Courant, Connecticut Magazine, Cottages and Bungalows Magazine, HGTV, the SYFY network to name a few places.
Spring Thaw, Hawk's Nest by Catherine Christiano oil, 6 x 8.5 inches, 2018. Catherine Christiano was born and raised in suburban central New Jersey where she studied drawing and painting part-time. A move to Connecticut prompted her to fully focus on art, and she received a BFA in 2001 from The Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts. Her work has been published in American Artist Drawing and The Journal of the American Medical Association. She also designed the seal for the Town of Old Lyme. Catherine has exhibited her work throughout the Northeast, New York City, and Los Angeles.
Osprey Lookout by Anne Bingham Pierson watercolor, 9 x 13 inches, 18.75 x 23 inches framed. A physician, mother and grandmother, Dr. Pierson has also become an accomplished artist with her work displayed in galleries, businesses, and juried shows throughout Connecticut. She is past president of the Lyme Art Association. An elected artist in several shoreline Art Associations, in 2003 Dr. Pierson was elected a member of the Connecticut Watercolor Society. She paints primarily in watercolor because of its spontaneity and flow of color and both the subtlety of shading and transparent clarity which can be achieved.

Moira Cowell Daniells grew up in the Connecticut River Valley and her interest in art began as a child, when she received traditional academic training in drawing and painting for a number of years. She graduated from Green Mountain College and began to pursue a career in the financial world until later attending and graduating from the Lyme Academy of Fine Arts. Moira has exhibited her work at the Academy as well as a number of galleries. She is a member of the Connecticut Women Artists, the Lyme Art Association, the Essex Art Association, and the Salmagundi Club in New York City. She has won several awards, including the President's Award for Citizenship and Excellence in painting at the Lyme Academy. Her paintings are in private and corporate collections in New England, Maryland, and Washington D.C., as well as the West coast.
Manhattan at Night by Sheila Barbone oil, 6.5 x 9 inches, 8 x 10.25 inches framed. Sheila Barbone was born in Stonington, CT and has been painting and showing in galleries since the age of 9. She received a BFA in art from the Lyme Academy College of Fine Art, where she studied human anatomy, painting and drawing. Her works depict a snapshot of life in the 21st century and she uses her own photos as reference materials and starts out with a drawing that she then draws over with paint using brush strokes, washes and a palette knife to construct her final product.

Jack-in-the-Pulpit (Arum Triphyllum) by William Curtis (1746-1799), copper plate engraving with original hand-coloring, 8.25 x 5 inches, 17.25 x 13.25 inches framed. William Curtis was born in Alton Hampshire, England and began his career as an apothecary before turning his attention to botany and other natural history. He established the Botanical Magazine in 1787, the first popular horticultural publication to use fine hand-colored plates. This plate is from the magazine published in London, c. 1787ff.
The Innocent Age by Mally De Somma oil, 5 x 5 inches, 7 x 7 inches framed. Mally DeSomma's life as an artist has spanned over 35 years. Through years of college courses, private institutions, and numerous workshops with many renowned artists, she has enjoyed and received many awards throughout her career as an artist. Mally has taught at Artsplace, a private art school in Cheshire, CT and is currently one of their anchor teachers. She has also taught at the University of Connecticut Waterbury campus and privately in her Waterbury studio. Her works have been exhibited in many juried shows and won numerous awards.
Church at Old Lyme by A. Serra pastel, 12.25 x 9.25 inches, 19.75 x 16 inches framed, 1987. A. Serra was a French exchange student who had stayed at the home of Susan Minot Woody while studying at the Old Lyme school. This piece was completed and given by the student as a thank you to Susan.

Michaela Gorski graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Art History. She previously worked as a visitor relations associate at the Museum and is currently a visitor services shift leader at the New Britain Museum of American Art. Michaela was inspired for her piece as she worked at the admissions desk located in the Rafal Landscape Center where she could view the historic gardens through the doors.
Uttanasana by Stephanie Psarros original screenprint 3/12, 2021. Born in London to a Greek family, Psarros moved to New York City in 2005 where she received a BFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts. Currently living between London, Athens and the island of Chios, she continues to experiment with imprinting her unique designs of yoga poses on paper.
Hatched Circle: Blue - Green by Mell Scalzi ink on bristol board, 4 x 4 inches, 2022. Mell Scalzi, Registrar at the Museum, has a BA in Studio Art from Wheaton College in Massachusetts. She holds a professional certificate in Art Collections Management and Object Display from NYU. Her artwork, which she refers to as Doodleology, stems from the many doodles she creates in margins of various notebooks and on scraps of paper. Scalzi works best when she is half-distracted from her drawings, which allows her sub-conscious to lead the way.
Swan and Vase by Lilywork ceramic, 19 x 22 inches, 2019. The story of Lilywork, created by Paul and Esther Halferty, begins at Moravian Pottery and TIle Work, a living history museum in Bucks County, PA. In the fall of 2005, Esther began an apprenticeship at TIle Works and came to learn traditional tile-making techniques and creating her own works inspired by her love of printmaking, architecture and patterns seen on her travels. Paul, was working at Tile Works as a mold-maker and ceramist. One year later they were married and Lilywork Artisan TIle was born. They now press and design every tile by hand and every piece they make is one of a kind.
Starstruck, 2022 by David D.J. Rau mixed-media assemblage on antique slate, 14 x 11 x 3 inches. This out-of-this world assemblage is built on an antique roofing tile (ca. 1795) from New Orleans. Originally mined in Pennsylvania, it traveled via raft on the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers. A starstruck family of ex-votos, or religious votive objects, is gathered under a full moon (a weathered ball found during one of the artists' long walks between Chester and Deep River). Decorative metallic coins, pins, and glass beads float in the spacey void. The "8" in the lower corner is a signifier of the maker who was born on 8/8. Artwork comes with a black metal stand for easy display.
Beautiful 20th century hand-carved Asian inspired wooden screen made up of five panels featuring a bird and cherry blossom motif with brass hardware and the lower panel carved with a symmetrical design. Measures 72 inches high x 90 inches wide x 1 inch deep.

Quilt measures 60 x 60 inches and was handmade by Rosemarie Hawthorne from Prospect, CT.
Gigliola Scagliotti, an Italian artist, founded Ottofficine Design as an artistic research laboratory in 2008 as a space for her visions to come to life. In the early years, she experimented with various techniques and paid great attention to the recovery and reuse of waste materials. The silicone vases immediately proved to be an effective product: colorful, eccentric, extremely resistant and light. With each design the collection is enriched with new shapes and models. This one is the "Jellyfish" model. Each piece is hand signed and numbered. Measures 5.5 inches high and 9 inches in diameter.

She earned her BFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in 1993, and her MFA from Louisiana State University in 1996. Her work is concerned with investigating the relationships between domesticated animals and humans. This piece is a sculptural vessel in the shape of a blue horse with four tumbling dogs on top and two human forms on the rump (detachable).
