Artist Statement:
Gayleen Plakunov has dabbled in photography since her teens. After moving to a new home, photography became a greater passion as she discovered the wildlife and natural beauty that surrounded her. From the first visit by twin fawns on move-in day, to subsequent encounters with red foxes, white-tailed deer herds, coyotes, hawks and numerous songbirds, it soon became evident that she had a unique opportunity to capture the view of the natural world as she saw it. Wildlife, landscapes, birds and flowers are all the focus of her art. At DawnGreeter Designs, she offers her photos as prints, notecards, magnets and calendars. "My work is dedicated to the memory of my mother, who always had a wildlife story to share over Sunday morning breakfast. She ensured our childhood surrounded us with gardens, animals and wild things and taught us to love them all."

I enjoy taking beautiful photographs of flowers, birds, butterflies, and landscapes. To me, these portray love and peace. Adding abstracts, also called impressionistic, and black and whites are fun and inspirational.
As a participant in Joy of Photography shows, it is always a great community event. Seeing someone's work allows a person to see what that person is about - feelings, characteristics, personality, and a true view of who we are inside.

Artist Statement:
My photographic journey officially started in 2012. As conversations were generated and possibilities unfolded, my reach extended beyond my typical comfort zone. Boundaries expanded, curiosity increased, and my faith increased multilaterally. My hope is that when people see my pictures, they see how much I love that moment in time and that I want to save them and share them. The intensity. The beauty, the passion, the striving for excellence, and always wanting to have my own distinct vision I can share to celebrate my life.
