Carla Bianco, who starred on Broadway as Maureen in the musical Rent, will conduct a 5-day summer intensive camp for the student who dreams of playing a lead role in their favorite Broadway musical. Each student will be cast in a leading part from a Broadway show for the week! They will have the opportunity to explore playing their character through songs, scenes and character work. Students will dive deeper into vocal technique, learning the breath support for power, strength, clear resonance and tone in their vocal sound that is needed for solo singing while exploring their acting technique as it applies to their role. Camp will culminate with a Broadway Star review for family and friends!

Come join Coach Mark Haffner as you have fun learning to serve, volley, and overhead. This high-energy camp will focus on the importance of sportsmanship,agility, movement, and the strength that is involved in the game of tennis. Campers are welcome to bring their own racquet to camp. Equipment will be provided for all campers who do not bring their own.
In Codemoji's Jr. Coding, students will learn the basics of coding and computer science as they are immersed in STEM activities. Students will collaborate to program robots to complete tasks, work with emojis as they dive into the Codemoji platform, and participate in offline unplugged coding activities and games. Throughout the program, students will design a website and learn to utilize their newly acquired coding skills to advance through interactive lessons. The Codemoji program will challenge your students as they advance through HTML, CSS, and JS coding basics and will promote the desire to continue their coding learning outside of the classroom.
This course will focus on the development of executive functioning skills that enable students to gain more independence and effectively participate in any class. The featured skills will include study skills, note taking skills, test taking skills, time management, and organization, and each day of this course will include both direct instruction and hands-on application in one of these skills. In addition, participants will be provided with materials/resources such as checklists and graphic organizers to use for any of their classes once the school year starts.

Every dog needs a friend! In our 15hr Future Veterinarian Summer Camp, students will role-play the key responsibilities of a veterinarian and learn how to care for a dog. These future veterinarians will learn how to remove ticks, give immunizations, suture lacerations, read an x-ray, design their own veterinarian office, and explore dog digestion.
This camp hopes to instill in young players a love for the game of soccer by creating a learning environment that is fun, energetic, and positive. Players will be trained in individual skills, tactics, and the importance of teamwork. There will be small-sided games and skill work that is catered to all levels of experience. Varsity players will be part of the coaching staff and each practice will end with a kids versus coaches game. Campers will receive a camp tee-shirt.
Number explorers will focus on basic number sense along with some fun hands-on activities that will reinforce the basic number sense concepts. agility, movement, and the strength that is involved in the game of tennis. Inspired learning today - healthy futures tomorrow! In our 15hr Future Doctor Summer Camp, students will role-play the key responsibilities of a doctor and learn about vital organs in the human body. These future doctors will practice suturing stitches and administering first aid; they will learn about the heart, lungs, bones, brain, spine, eyes, digestion, and how pharmacists play a role in prescribing medicine.
Codemoji's Code It program's mission is simple: teach students to enjoy all things related to coding and the web while building problem solving and creative thinking skills. Our teachers deliver clear and entertaining instruction to ensure students have fun while learning complex coding skills using emojis that represent HTML text, which lowers the barriers to new coders and increases their excitement and understanding of computer science. Students build animations, websites, and video games; explore multiple coding languages; program robots; create STEM-based projects both on and offline and are encouraged to share their projects when they get home.

Every wonder what it's like to act in your favorite Disney movie or Nickelodeon show? Acting for the camera camp is great way to learn the art of acting for TV and movies! Students will work with basic acting technique and learn how to apply it for the on-camera medium using commercial copy and scenes from age-appropriate film and television scripts. By learning how to communicate the subtle nuances needed for this medium, students will explore what works on film versus acting for the stage. Camp will be held in Sewickley Academy's state of the art on-camera studio and students will receive all their on-camera work at the end of the week for viewing at home. They will also learn what it is like to work on a film set and delve a bit into the film and TV business. Taught by Carla Bianco, national commercial spokesperson and movie actor from Unstoppable and Promised Land.
Tired of asking your child "Have you done your summer reading yet? Are you SURE!?" This camp will start each session with a focus on comprehension, annotation, and/or drawing conclusions skills. Then students will have a prolonged time to simply sit and read on our beautiful campus. During this silent reading time, students will conference with the teacher one-on-one to monitor understanding, set goals, and review skills. Whether your child goes to Sewickley Academy or not, this is a wonderful opportunity to have your child review skills and read more independently and with a guiding hand.

Students entering 5th through 8th grade are invited to join two of our SA Field Hockey experts, Coach Mulhollem & Coach Lassen, to try out the global sport of field hockey. Fundamentals of the game, stick skills, agility training, strength training and cardiovascular conditioning will all be elements emphasized in this fun, game-based and competitive week long clinic. Students from the entire region are invited to attend, need not be a Sewickley Academy students. Sticks and balls will be provided, however some participants may choose to purchase mouth guards and shin guards for increased protection during drills.
This program is designed to help students acclimate to mathematics in Fifth and Sixth grades. We will focus on various strategies (including standard algorithms), foundational skills, and problem solving skills that will help students hit the ground running once school resumes.
Prepare for the school year ahead by reviewing key concepts from Sewickley Academy Middle School's English & Humanities curricula. Areas of focus include active reading and comprehension techniques; the writing process; language mechanics; and vocabulary development. Using a variety of activities appropriate for various learning styles, students will improve their fundamental skills and be better prepared for success in English. This course is designed for incoming Middle School students as well as seventh and eighth grade students who are looking for additional growth and support in these areas.
This fun, activity-driven workshop will help incoming Middle School students prepare to be successful from day one. In this course, students will develop the tools needed in middle school, including study skills, planning, and organization. Students will learn to identify their current learning habits and how to adjust them to meet the increased workload and responsibilities of middle school. This course is designed for incoming middle school students as well as 7th and 8th graders who need extra support in these areas. The course is open to students from any school, as most of the curriculum is applicable to all middle schools. However, some aspects of the curriculum will be tailored to Sewickley Academy Middle School.

"How to Write a Memoir" is a week-long crash course in, well, how to write a memoir. Everyone will leave the course with a short memoir to submit for publication. The course will provide not only resources and strategies but also a community of other writers from which to draw inspiration and support. At the heart of the course will be the finding and mining of mentor texts for craft moves (how to navigate time and space, build character, write dialogue, employ sensory details, the list goes on...) to use in our own work. Class time will be devoted to writing exercises, discussion, and workshop. Everyone's life contains the seed of a good memoir -- this course will help you find that seed and give it the sunshine and water that it needs to grow.
This week long co-educational camp will remind your kids of their time in physical education class but even more fun. During the week, the students will participate in games that will encourage them to improve their skills and learn new exciting games. All they need to participate in this game is a positive attitude, excitement for games, and ready to have fun. Each camper should bring water and snacks each day.
