You're invited to Riverkeeper's first annual Summer Splash!

Riverkeeper is excited to present a new take on our annual gala, the Summer Splash! We're moving upriver and outdoors to Boscobel House and Gardens, a beautiful historic estate in Garrison with some of the best Hudson River views around. We hope to bring together new and old friends at this garden party style event to celebrate and honor the Hudson River and the long-time activists and heroes who are fighting to keep it safe and clean.

Your ticket purchase or generous donation to the Summer Splash will provide crucial support for our work to protect and restore the Hudson River and its tributaries and drinking water for millions of New Yorkers.

We are proud to honor our partner Super Law Group with our 2022 Big Fish Award for their years of legal service to the Hudson River and upholding the Clean Water Act. We are also pleased to present our Hudson Hero award to our good friend and filmmaker Jon Bowermaster, whose work has helped highlight some of the most pressing environmental issues of our time and build support for protecting our beloved Hudson River Valley.

We hope you'll join us as we come together once again to celebrate our shared clean water victories and unveil new plans to protect our precious river and New York's drinking water.

A picnic dinner will be served. Garden party attire recommended.

Hudson Hero Award Honoree
Jon Bowermaster

Writer, filmmaker and adventurer, Jon Bowermaster is a six-time grantee of the National Geographic Expeditions Council. His first assignment for National Geographic Magazine in 1988 was documenting a 3,741 mile crossing of Antarctica by dogsled.

Jon has written eleven books and produced/directed more than thirty documentary films. His feature documentaries include 'Dear President Obama,' 'Antarctica, on the Edge,' 'After the Spill' and 'Ghost Fleet.' ( He is a longtime contributor to magazines ranging from The New York Times Magazine and The Atlantic to Outside and Rolling Stone.

His National Geographic-sponsored Oceans 8 project took him and his teams around the world by sea kayak over the course of ten years (1999-2008), bringing back stories from the Aleutian Islands to French Polynesia, Gabon to Tasmania, and more, reporting on how the planet's one ocean, its residents and various coastlines are faring in today's busy world. The project resulted in an eight-part television series for the National Geographic Channel.

For the past eight years, Jon and his One Ocean Media Foundation / Oceans 8 teams have focused on a series of short films about the environmental risks facing and hopes for the Hudson Valley and Hudson River. Since 2018 he has hosted the weekly Green Radio Hour on Radio Kingston and for the past four years taught in the Environment and Urban Studies program at Bard College.

Jon lives in New York's Hudson Valley and is the President of the One Ocean Media Foundation,  Chairman of the Advisory Board of Adventurers and Scientists for Conservation and a Creative Affiliate with the Safina Center. We are honored to have partnered with him over the years to create several films about our work at Riverkeeper and the Hudson River and to present him with this year's Hudson Hero Award.
