Beacon parent Chantal Sulkow has painted and drawn her entire life. A life-long New Yorker, Chantal studied illustration and portrait painting at The School of Visual Arts, and participated in the Metropolitan Museum of Art Copyist Program, where she had the invaluable experience of making a number of old master copies on site. After her time at SVA, she continued her studies, taking classes and workshops at the Art Students League, and painting from life at every opportunity.

Chantal will come to you to shoot a photo reference for the portrait, then complete the oil painting in her studio and deliver the finished stunning artwork to you.

world via Skype. She previously taught for The Princeton Review and founded

All Fine Art Classes and Camp Sessions are held at the AIAVAP Teaching Studio located behind Little Shop of Crafts: (711 Amsterdam Avenue, the NE Corner of 94th Street)

The underlying premise of Arts in Action is that all children are artists. Their process-oriented curriculum demystifies drawing, painting, and sculpting in a logical and analytical way, empowering children to create with confidence.

Learning a visual arts language deepens a child's perspective and insight just as it does in math, reading, and academic subjects.
