Like an ancient Zen master, the koala seems to be a model of patience. In this Chinese brush painting on sustainable bamboo, Wyland pays his respect to the koalas of eastern Australia, where the eucalyptus trees these animals feed on are most plentiful. "Koalas are fascinating creatures," Wyland says. "They rarely leave the trees and spend most of their days tucked into nooks sleeping. And when they're not sleeping, they're eating. They can even store snacks of leaves in the pouches of their cheeks."
