How is this different from the fundraising events I'm used to?

This isn't your typical sit-down gala! This 21+ event will be held at the interactive Boston Children's Museum. The best part? Many of the exhibits will be open for you to engage with! Enjoy a drink from the full bar, have passed hors d'oeuvres and dinner, and relive a night of childhood - all to support the youth and families we serve! There will be a short (and we mean short!) speaking program to thank you for your impact. All funds raised from the event will go towards making sure Italian Home continues to provide critical services to those in need. 

What is the dress code?

This gala is an interactive one, and we encourage you to participate in the Boston Children Museum's exhibits. We recommend Business Casual dress. That's right- you don't have to dressed to the nines to feel like a ten at this gala! Feel free to leave the heels and sports coat at home and wear what you can move around in comfortably.

Are masks/COVID-19 vaccinations required?

We'll be following all guidelines put in place for the city of Boston, Boston Children's Museum, and the CDC. As of March 10, masks, COVID-19 vaccinations, and negative COVID-19 tests are not required to attend the event. Those who feel more comfortable wearing the mask during the event are encouraged to do so. The Boston Children's Museum is a large venue with plenty of space to social distance. If guidelines and restrictions change between now and May 14, we will update registered attendees via email and this webpage. 

Can my kids come?

This event is 21+. Although this gala will take place at Boston Children's Museum, we ask that you leave the kids at home so you can fully engage with everything this gala has to offer. After all, you deserve a night off!

What is the schedule for the event?

The silent auction will open on Friday, May 6 at 12:00 PM ET.

On May 14, the in-person gala will begin at 6:30 PM with passed hors d'oeuvres and cocktail hour. Dinner will be available starting at 7:30 PM to thank you for your support of the youth and families we serve. We'll have a short speaking program at 8:30 PM. Other than that- the night is yours! For the entirety of the event, you can enjoy the exhibits, mingle, and learn more about your and Italian Home's impact. The event will end at 10:30 PM.

How do I register for the event?

It is necessary to register for this event in order to participate in the auctions or make donations through this campaign. All bidding and donating must be done on your phone or computer. To register, simply click "Sign In or Register" at the top of this page. Once registered, you will receive a welcome text AND a welcome email. There will be handy links in there so you can easily access the event from your phone or computer.

How do I bid on an item?
The Silent Auction will open on Saturday, May 6 at 12:00 PM, and close on Saturday, May 14 around 9:00 PM. We will announce the close of the silent auction during the in-person event. Click "View All Items" or browse by category to start bidding! You will be notified on your phone by text message and by email once bidding begins.  You can bid from anywhere using your computer, smartphone, or tablet as long as you have access to the internet.

How can I make just a general donation?
Donating is easy and there are many places you can do it. Go to the "Donate Now" section of this home page and click on the amount you wish to donate or enter your preferred amount in the box below. All donations are 100% tax-deductible. 

If I win an auction item, how do I pay for my things?
Items, raffle tickets, and donations purchased through the items section may be paid for at the end of the Building Stronger, Block by Block gala on May 14. In order to begin bidding, you must have a credit card on file*.  At the close of the event, you will receive a text prompting you to check out and pay.  

*Please note that any orders that remain unpaid by Monday, May 16 at noon, will automatically be processed with the card on file.
Can I participate in the auction if I can't attend the gala or don't live in the Boston area?
Yes! Of course you can. If there are physical items that you win in the auction, we will work with you on delivery. Be sure to provide your email address when you register so that we can correspond with you regarding your item. For other items, we will provide details on redeeming via email and provide any applicable vouchers.

How do I get there? Where can I park?

Boston Children's Museum is conveniently located in the Seaport District, at 1250 Massachusetts Ave, Boston, MA 02125. Boston Children's Museum is close to major highways and easily accessible by public transportation, including the MBTA train and bus! If you do choose to drive, there are many parking garages within a short walk of Boston Children's Museum. When I make a donation to Italian Home for Children, what does it support?

The short answer? Your donation helps us provide care to youth and families. The longer answer is that we work with youth who have emotional, behavioral, and educational challenges. No two kids are the same. Some might need to move on campus with us to get the help they need. Others might be fine to stay in their home while working with a clinician to champion their challenges. We provide a spectrum of services that fit the needs of youth in the area. To help families receive these services, donations from folks, like you, are crucial. If any item presented in the Building Stronger, Block by Block silent auction becomes unavailable, due to unforeseen circumstances, the total winning bid amount can be converted into a 100% tax-deductible contribution OR a refund can be issued. Please reach out to with any questions.
