This quilt is a group effort. The heart blocks were made by members of the Madison Modern Quilt Guild. This quilt was assembled and quilted by Bill Hoernke, Stoughton, WI 2022

Size:

60" x 70"

Artist Note:

We are all different! The hearts in this quilt were made by different members of the Madison Modern Quilt Guild. Bill Hoernke "won" the block lottey and put this guild together. Bill decided to name it, "Diverse Hearts Make Lots of Love"! Look for lots of little hearts in the quilting. (I've included washing instructions and a color catcher sheet).

I used the "Live Boldly" quilt pattern, created by designer Charisma Horton, to make this quilt. I love the bold, graphic, modern look of the design, and the lively, joyful feel that it conveys.

Size:

47.5" x 63.25"

Artist Note:

I love the work that GSAFE is doing to help create safe spaces in schools for LGBTQ youth to grow and to thrive. As LGBTQ people, we realize how crucial it is to have a supportive community of wise elders, peers, and true allies to help us learn to live, love and act both boldly and joyfully.

French braid pattern quilted mostly with spirals. Stylized flower quilting in the large center squares.

Size:

50"x68"

Artist Note:

I support GSAFE's work as a straight ally with family, friends, and friends'kids that are part of the LGBTQ community.

This quilt is about generational transformation. The top layer was crafted from a variety of fabric pieces in the early 1950's but then packed away and unfinished. The middle layer is a well-loved but forgotten duvet from the 70's. The two were then painstakingly united by hand-stitching a new layer of soft (but strong) fabric that will provide warmth and comfort when needed.

Note from auction organizers: Please note that likely due to being in storage and time the antique quilt top does show some discoloration in two areas that we were able to minimize with washing, but can still be observed in person. Regardless, this quilt is well-made and incredibly cozy, warm, heavy, and HUGE. We all love it!

Donor Note:

The Number 9 represents completion but not finality, gaining wisdom and strength through hardship, new beginnings and the process of transformation. The Dream: a future where next generations may safely thrive in being wholly themselves, working together to deepen our compassion and embracing differences.

Brightly colored table runner. Each square with a different design. Intricate quilting pattern. All of the fabrics work so well, together, they seem to be from the same line of fabrics. Sure to brighten your dining table.
