This purse was made by my friend, Lynda Johnson, of Rockford, IL. There is a peacock feather on the front, an appliqued green anole lizard on the back, and a small pocket inside. There is hand beading on both the front and back. Lynda and her husband are avid bird and nature watchers, and were involved with bird banding at the Sand Bluff Bird Observatory for many years.
Size:
6"x6"
Artist Note:
The Green Anole on the back of this shimmering green bag is common in the southern USA. The male spreads his orange neck to attract a female or warn off other males. I found the Peacock feather while birding at the Nygren Wetland Preserve! It's not native to Illinois, but perhaps a runaway from a local farm or victim of a predator? Enjoy its beauty! I hope this purse reminds you of the beauty and wonder of the natural world.
Hmong crafted. Detailed, applique pattern over the front. Velcro closure. Roomy shoulder bag with an interior zipper pocket.
9" x 11"
Crocheted with merino wool yarn, this handbag has deep jewel hues and leather handles. It's made form yarn by Malabrigo, a family-owned company from Uruguay that hand-dyes yarn with the softest, sustainably and ethically sourced fibers that are a joy to own. Big enough to carry your wallet and essentials while on the go. Open top, unlined. Spot clean if needed.
