The bowls are food-safe and can be used in the oven, microwave, refrigerator, and freezer. The bowls should not be "thermally stressed" by putting them straight from the freezer/refrigerator to the microwave or oven. Let them sit out and come to room temperature first. The same goes for going from cooking to cold storage.

This colorful Tinga Tinga Painting from Tanzania will light up any room!

11 1/2 x 8 1/2 the birds nearly fly off the board!

Tinga Tinga painting began with Edward Saidi Tingatinga, who was born in 1937 to a family of subsistence farmers in southern Tanzania.

In 1953 he traveled to Dar-es-Salaam in search of work and labored at odd jobs in the construction industry until 1961. Impressed by the ease with which western style paintings by Zairian artists sold to tourists, he decided to try his hand as a painter. Since he could not afford to purchase art supplies, he began with scavenged materials, painting on discarded ceiling boards using dregs of bicycle enamel, household paint and old paintbrushes.

Despite this unpromising beginning, he quickly developed a new and unique artistic style. His colorful, crowded paintings depicted fantastic animals and birds, dancing tribespeople and scenes of village life. His lack of formal training led to a simple, direct and naive approach to natural subjects bursting with exuberant life, whimsy and color.

The paintings sold well and Tingatinga recruited members of his family to copy them. Early Tingatinga paintings show flat, two-dimensional animals painted against a plain background. Each is related to a legend or saying from Tingatinga's Makua tribal culture. Though the subject matter is rural, the painting is a distinctly urban art form, evolved on the streets of Dar-es-Salaam .

After his death, his fellow artists in Dar formed the TingaTinga Arts Cooperative Society in his name and the style he originated became a school of painting for artists from Dar and Zanzibar. Today, the Tinga Tinga artists working in Dar and Zanzibar produce paintings faithful to the generic Tinga Tinga themes of big game and birds. Many uphold the original, painting only with bicycle enamel..

Two Multicolored Cotton Kente Scarf - 4 Inch Width by 61 inches long

Each strip of kente cloth requires considerable effort, and the looms are worked with both hands and feet. Each color has its own meanings in Ashanti culture, and the patterns themselves are carefully chosen symbols, which a master weaver develops and names.

This colorful Tinga Tinga Painting from Tanzania will light up any room!

8 1/2 x 7 3/8 the birds nearly march off the board!

Tinga Tinga painting began with Edward Saidi Tingatinga, who was born in 1937 to a family of subsistence farmers in southern Tanzania.

In 1953 he traveled to Dar-es-Salaam in search of work and labored at odd jobs in the construction industry until 1961. Impressed by the ease with which western style paintings by Zairian artists sold to tourists he decided to try his hand as a painter. Since he could not afford to purchase art supplies, he began with scavenged materials, painting on discarded ceiling boards using dregs of bicycle enamel, household paint and old paintbrushes.

Despite this unpromising beginning, he quickly developed a new and unique artistic style. His colorful, crowded paintings depicted fantastic animals and birds, dancing tribespeople and scenes of village life. His lack of formal training led to a simple, direct and naive approach to natural subjects bursting with exuberant life, whimsy and color.

The paintings sold well and Tingatinga recruited members of his family to copy them. Early Tingatinga paintings show flat, two-dimensional animals painted against a plain background. Each is related to a legend or saying from Tingatinga's Makua tribal culture. Though the subject matter is rural, the painting is a distinctly urban art form, evolved on the streets of Dar-es-Salaam and conceived not as a means of personal expression, but as a method of earning money. With its cheerful subject matter, Tingatinga's art was created to appeal to the romantic notions of African life held by tourists.

After his death, his fellow artists in Dar formed the TingaTinga Arts Cooperative Society in his name and the style he originated became a school of painting for artists from Dar and Zanzibar. Today, the Tinga Tinga artists working in Dar and Zanzibar produce paintings faithful to the generic Tinga Tinga themes of big game and birds. Many uphold the original, painting only with bicycle enamel. look at the continue.

A celebration of our Syrah this wine invokes the rich dark velvety texture Paso is known for. Or perhaps this wine, first made in 2001, is what all those other wines are striving for?
The spice box in this wine is wide, from pipe tobaccos to a pfeffernusse christmas cookie. Quince, sugar plums, strawberry rhubarb pie; all the fruit is there as well. As it ages, the wine will move further into brooding and dark flavors, molasses and sausage in the same sip. Drink with a decant now through 2027 or wait for those darker flavors to take hold 2027 through 2037. You will need more than one bottle.

2018 Red Wine "Right Bank Blend"

"The 2018 Right Bank Blend is a blend of 47% Cabernet Franc, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot and l% Petit Verdot, aged for 20 months in French oak, 75% new. Deep garnet- purple in color, it rolls effortlessly, seductively out of the glass with gorgeous scents of lavender, lilacs and baked black cherries, leading to a core of kirsch, warm cassis and chocolate box plus a waft of bouquet garni. The medium to full-bodied palate coats the mouth with lively black and red fruits, supported with ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and earthy. 279 cases were made."

Formation Program

Preparing the long-term Mission Doctors for three years of international service is among a unique set of objectives that sets MDA apart.

Classes in scripture, theology, Catholic social teaching are combined with adult formation and cultural preparation.

Living together in community for four months, those preparing to serve in different locations around the world attend daily Mass, pray morning and evening prayers, share meals and work together in preparation for long term mission service.

We are told by the Bishops and the Religious Sisters who run the hospitals, that they see the difference this formation makes in those who come to serve.

Mission Doctors have also shared that this time was both a gift and a challenge providing the resources that have made their time in service fruitful.

The diverse faculty are experts in their field, coming from universities and organizations providing spiritual, interpersonal, emotional, and individual instruction.

The direct expense for the four-month residential formation program averages $10,000 per candidate.
