Clark Fork Watershed Education Program

Since 2005, the Clark Fork Watershed Education Program (CFWEP) has been providing place-based education opportunities connecting students to their local environments. Through student programs, teacher professional development, and public outreach, CFWEP aims to provide people with the tools to understand, engage, and improve their community. Based out of Montana Tech in Butte, MT, CFWEP serves students in the Clark Fork Watershed, throughout Montana, and beyond.

The heart of our program is providing hands-on, place-based experiential learning to students in the Clark Fork Watershed. Through programs on watershed and restoration science, trout dissection, and phage discovery, we take science out of the textbook and into the field with the goal of inspiring the change-makers, scientific thinkers and problem-solvers of tomorrow.
