More about Dr. Dalsing: He was born and raised in a small rural southwestern Wisconsin village where many of his large family still resigns. He attended St. Mary's College (Winona, Minnesota-B.A in Biology 1974) with matriculation to The Medical College of Wisconsin with M.D. degree obtained in 1978. General Surgery training was at Indiana University (1983) with Vascular Surgery fellowship completed at Northwestern University (1984). He is board certified in General Surgery, Vascular Surgery and Surgical Critical Care.

Dr. Dalsing joined the Indiana University faculty as an Assistant Professor in 1984 and became the first Director of Vascular Surgery in 1987 with its inception. He obtained AOA recognition in 1988. He rose through the ranks to become full professor in 1994 and the first E. Dale and Susan E. Habegger Professor of Surgery in 2004. Dr. Dalsing initiated the IU Independent Vascular Surgery Training Program (2000) and Integrated Vascular Surgery Training Program (2008).

Dr. Dalsing has a long and distinguished career in academic surgery. He has been president of the Indiana Chapter, American College of Surgeons and Chair of the ACS Board of Governors' Committee on Socioeconomic Issues. He has been president of the American Venous Forum, the Midwestern Vascular Surgical Society, and the Association of Program Directors in Vascular Surgery. He is a member of numerous prestigious surgical societies most notably the Society for Vascular Surgery, American Venous Forum, Midwestern Vascular Surgical Society, ACS and APDVS. He has been chair of several societal committees. He has given over 200 medical presentations throughout the world including Japan, Australia, South America and Europe. He has published more than 150 peer-reviewed journal articles and written over 40 book chapters.

She is now Editor-in Chief of the JVSVL, the first woman vascular surgeon to serve in this capacity.

Celebrate SVS' accomplishments by having dinner with its outgoing President, Dr. Ali AbuRahma. Currently, Dr. AbuRahma is a tenured professor of surgery, chief of vascular and endovascular surgery and served as the director of the vascular surgery fellowship and integrated residency programs at the CAMC Institute for Academic Medicine. He also serves as the medical director of the vascular laboratory and co-director of the Vascular Center of Excellence at CAMC.

More about Dr. Shutze: After being raised in Florida Dr. Shutze attended the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore where he earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in 1984, did his general surgery residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and then completed the vascular surgery fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Following that he entered private practice in Dallas in 1991 and co-founded Texas Vascular Associates in 1997 with 5 other vascular surgeons. Their group has grown to include 16 vascular surgeons and 2 Advanced Nurse practitioners serving 19 hospitals in 6 counites in the greater Dallas metropolitan area.

Dr. Shutze's board certification is in Vascular Surgery, General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. He served as the Vascular Surgery Fellowship program director from 2013-2015. Since then, his principal site of service has been at The Heart Hospital Plano where he is Co-Director of the Aortic Program. From the community setting he has been able to author or co-author over 90 peer reviewed publications and almost 100 presentations on diverse vascular surgery conditions. He has been the local P.I. or sub P.I. for over 20 multi-center investigational trials.

In keeping with her medical education interests, she was recently appointed Associate Dean for Medical Student Academic Advising and Advancement at the Pritzker School of Medicine (her alma mater). Outside of a busy clinical practice, she also currently sits on a number of regional and national committees focused on surgical education and serves on the SVS Communications and Appointments Committee. Dr. Lee is the Chief of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery for Stanford Medicine. He is a fellowship-trained, board-certified vascular surgeon and a passionate leader, researcher, and educator in our field. Dr. Lee graduated with honors from the California Institute of Technology in 1994, received his MD degree from the University of California, San Diego, in 1998, and completed his General Surgery Residency at Harbor-UCLA in 2004, at the time coming under the influence of Dr. Rodney White, one of the pioneers of aortic endografting.

He moved onto Stanford University for vascular fellowship completed in 2006, working alongside Drs. Christopher Zarins, Michael Dake, and Ron Dalman, further influencing his long-term interest in complex endovascular aortic therapies. After his training, Dr. Lee has stayed on the faculty at Stanford his entire career, in key roles as Program Director of the fellowship and residency from 2011-2020 and this this past summer in 2021, Dr. Lee succeeded Dr. Dalman in becoming the third Division Chief of the Stanford program. He most recently served as President of the VESS in 2021-22, and is the current President of the APDVS.

Dr. Audra Duncan is currently professor and Chair/Chief of the Division of Vascular Surgery at Western University in London, ON. Dr. Duncan received her BSc in Chemistry from MIT and completed her MD and general surgery training at New Jersey Medical School. She was a vascular surgery fellow at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, and joined the staff at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN from 2000-2015. Dr. Duncan has led multiple educational and research committees, including Program Director of the Mayo Vascular Surgery Residency and Fellowship, Institutional Review Board Chair, Chair of the SVS Resident and Student Outreach Committee and current Chair of the American College of Surgeons Vascular Surgery Advisory Council, and co-chair of the SVS Inaugural Women's Section.

Dr. Duncan's research interests and areas of expertise include: ruptured aneurysms, open management outcomes of paravisceral aortic aneurysms, gender differences in vascular surgery outcomes, thoracic outlet syndrome in adolescents, complex aortic reconstructions for aneurysms. She has given more than 130 presentations, nationally and internationally, on these and other related topics. She has also authored more than 135 papers published in peer reviewed journals and contributed to more than 40 book chapters. She has served as the co-chair of the SVS guidelines committee on thoracic outlet reporting standards, a member of the SVS carotid guidelines committee and section editor for the 10th edition of Rutherford's Vascular Surgery textbook. She is currently the Journal of Vascular Surgery Assistant Editor of Reviews.
