Dr. Edith Eva Eger is a native of Hungary and was 16 years old in 1944 when she and her family were sent to Auschwitz, where her parents lost their lives. Edith and her sister were subjected to horrible treatment by Dr. Josef Mengele and survived the Death March in Austria.

In 1949, Edith moved to the United States with her young family, and in 1969 she received her degree in Psychology from the University of Texas, El Paso. Today, Dr. Eger has a clinical practice in La Jolla, California, where she uses her past as a powerful analogy to inspire people to reach their potential. In 2017 at the age of 90, her memoir The Choice: Embrace the Possible was published, which has become a New York Times Bestseller. Her second book, The Gift: Twelve Lessons to Save Your Life, was released in 2020 to international acclaim.

 

Sarah Maslin Nir is a staff reporter for the New York Times and a daughter of a Holocaust survivor. Born and raised in Manhattan, Nir earned her undergraduate and master's degrees at Columbia University. She began as the New York Times's nightlife columnist, covering 252 parties in eighteen months, and since has covered kidnappings by terrorists in Benin, West Africa, to wildfires in California, and everything in between. Nir was a Finalist for the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for "Unvarnished," her investigation into New York City's nail salon industry. She is the author of the book Horse Crazy.

 

Amy Spitalnick is the Executive Director of Integrity First for America, the civil rights nonprofit that spearheaded the successful landmark lawsuit against the neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and hate groups responsible for the Charlottesville violence. Amy previously served as Communications Director and Senior Policy Advisor to the NY Attorney General and Advisor and Spokesperson to the NYC Mayor. She has also worked for a number of federal, state, and local officials, campaigns, and advocacy organizations. Amy frequently appears in national media and has been named a Women in Power Fellow at the 92nd Street Y, a Truman National Security Project Fellow, and a City & State 40 Under 40 Rising Star. She graduated from Tufts University.
