How do I participate in the online bidding auction?

Get started online through the auction page. Just hit the 'Register Now' button towards the top of this page and enter your name, phone number, email. Credit card information is required to bid.


How does the silent auction work?

We will be using mobile bidding for our silent auction. You will be able to use your smartphone, tablet, or computer to keep up with the status of your bids and continue bidding until the auction closes. You can be the winning bidder wherever you are!



Do I need to be present at the Spectrum Gala to be part of the auction?

No, you can register for the silent auction only. Encourage your friends and family who live in other towns or states-they can be part of the auction, too.


How do I start bidding?

Bidding for the silent art auction has been open and will remain open before the event. Browse the silent auction by going to "Items" on the home page, and start bidding on your favorite items! Place your bid on selected items, set a maximum bid if desired, and GiveSmart will continue to keep you in the running until you reach your maximum bid. You must be registered in GiveSmart and give your Credit Card information to participate in bidding.


How can I keep active and know if I am outbid or have won an item?

You will be notified via text if you have been outbid. Keep an eye on your favorite items! If you are NOT receiving the text messages make sure you have the correct mobile number under your profile and that your settings allow text messaging. The texts will continue to notify you when you have been outbid or reached your maximum bid. When the silent auction closes, you will also receive a text message if you won any items.


There are some items that are designated as "live"? What's the difference?

Most of the items in the auction are "silent". But a few items will be auctioned "live" during the program on Thursday, March 10th. Bidding on "live auction" items can only be done in person at the event.


How do I bid on "live auction" items?

All bids for live auction items must be made in person during the program portion of the Spectrum event. No online bidding will be allowed. Upon arrival, each attendee will receive a bidder number to "raise a paddle" during the program. Live auction items descriptions are listed here for informational purposes only.


When will my card be charged for purchases?

All purchases for the auction or donations will be charged to your card shortly after 9:00PM on Thursday, March 10th.


How will I pay for and collect my winnings?

Auction winners are required to make payment the night of the event from their card on file, which will be automatically charged if you have won an auction item. The silent auction will close at 9:00PM Pacific Time. Please note that you will be asked to pay credit card fees. Auction items that are certificates will be mailed to the winner. It is strongly preferred that winners take auction items home with them on the night of March 10th. If you are unable to, please see below.


All auction items not collected the night of the event will be stored at the Access Institute Office and we will have the following scheduled pick-up day:

-Friday, March 11th 11 AM-6 PM at the Access Institute Office (110 Gough St., San Francisco)

-Monday, March 14th - Friday, March 18th, 10 AM-6PM (Access Institute Office)

Staff will be here to help you. Certificate items will be mailed the following week after the event.
