Beacon HS PTA Annual Giving Fund

Our students and teachers are finally back in the building - learning and engaging - in person! This year we have planned to spend more than $300,000 to support Beacon - from clubs and sports to academic programs, to the College Office, to social-emotional well-being programming and towards our school's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiatives - but we can't do it without you!

Can we count on you to contribute? Because this remains a challenging time for many, we have committed to drawing on PTA reserves from prior years to sustain our support, but that will only make up a small portion of what's needed to meet our fundraising goals for the year.

So far this new school year, PTA reserve funds are supporting:

• academic resources for the arts and sciences  teacher development to enhance student social-emotional wellness initiatives and special education supports
• robust extracurricular activities print and digital resources for the library, including the JSTOR digital library used by all students 
• freshman summer bridge and senior graduation
• our remarkable College Office

And with even all that - we still have another $170,000 in funding requests pending PTA approval.

Over the next few weeks we will be sending out a series of emails to highlight specific areas in need of our urgent support. These include:

Teacher Supports: In academics and the arts, your contributions help to fund equipment and supplies, textbooks, technical expertise and teaching artists!

After-school clubs: The upcoming Club Fair will enable our students to sign up for one, two or a few of the dozens of incredible options available to them. Beacon's wide array of extracurricular activities, with each club supported by a teacher, are made possible with our PTA to help meet expenses.

Sports and Health: PSAL, intramural and club sports are back in full swing! Physical education classes are meeting with safety precautions in place, and social-emotional professional developments are being planned for staff. PTA funding helps support the physical and emotional well-being of our whole school community.  

Technology: In the coming year, your donations will help finance purchases of necessary technology in the classroom.

Given the needs of our school and students as we transition back to in-person learning after unprecedented hardship, your support of the PTA is needed, more than ever.

Thank you to those who have already made a donation. We're hoping every family can support this most important fundraiser - by far our largest of the year! Our suggested donation is $500 per student. However, any contribution, no matter the dollar amount, is meaningful, valuable, and valued.

In addition, we also value contributions of time and expertise. There is much work to be done, and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved and make a difference.

The Beacon PTA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so there are many ways to give:

• Make a one-time OR a monthly recurring donation to the annual fund.
• Find out if your employer offers corporate matching that could double or even triple the value of your gift! (Ask us-we can help.)
