An exclusive Minneapolis Institute of Art tour for EIGHT, with Dr. Andreas Marks, Mary Griggs Burke Curator of Japanese & Korean Art and Director of the Clark Center for Japanese Art.

A private tour of the 16 permanent galleries for Japan, the largest such space in a Western museum. With 16 galleries, the Minneapolis Institute of Art has the largest permanent display of Japanese art outside of Japan. The galleries retell the history of Japanese from prehistoric times to contemporary, showcasing ceramics, paintings, prints, sculptures, samurai objects etc.
The space includes two architectural structures: a replica of the Sa-an, an 18th century teahouse within the Zen monastery of Daitokuji in Kyoto that is now designated as one of Japan's "Important Cultural Properties," and the replica of a 17th-century formal audience hall within the vast Zen monastery of Nanzenji in Kyoto.

Each tour participant will also receive the catalog to the special exhibition "Masterpieces of the Japanese painting collection from the Minneapolis Institute of Art" which is currently touring in Japan.

Tour date in the first half of 2022 to be discussed later.
