She will schedule the class with you at a mutually convenient time and come to your home (ITP) to conduct the class. Food costs are not included.
The donation includes complete consultation with the Chef (over phone or email) to decide on a Main and complementary side dish to be cooked during your class.

The Chef's specialties include Indian and Middle Eastern cuisine and she takes all manner of dietary needs into consideration so the menu can be fully customized to your tastes and preferences. Once it has been decided, the Chef will send you a detailed shopping list with ingredients, quantities and shopping tips included so that you can shop for what is required. Each student in Ms. Boyce's class designed a quilt square. Each square was combined to make a one-of-a-kind quilt that is sure to provide comfort and warmth.

Quilt is lap size, approximately 45 by 56 inches. The quilt top is cotton with squares decorated by each child. Children had free rein to choose what to draw on their squares, so each square represents the artist's inspiration. The quilt back is a soft cotton flannel to keep toes warm while curled up on the couch, and the batting is a light natural cotton.

Mosaic Cornhole Game

Get ready for some outdoor family fun with a custom cornhole set made by Vaughan's Valentines! Each board was sectioned off, then each student picked their favorite color and selected a section (or two) to paint. We put an extra coat of varnish to protect their hard work. Back of the boards contain all of the students' signatures. Cornhole set comes with carrying case and bean bags.

"Watercolor flowers"

Dimensions: 16"x19" canvas

Materials used: Acrylic, washable markers, coffee filters, water and salt

Process: The children were asked to color coffee filters with their water-based washable markers. They were encouraged to think about color mixing and making secondary colors from primary colors. Once finished, they took paintbrushes, dipped them in water, and "painted" over their artwork, creating a watercolor effect. As and added level of fun, they were allowed to then sprinkle kosher salt on top which created patterns and textures as the water and colors were absorbed by the salt.

Once dry, the filters were taken home and grouped by color scheme and then cut into petals and glued onto canvas. Using black acrylic paint, a background was created to help the bright colors pop.

The kids had so much fun with this project, and (hopefully) learned a little bit about watercolor painting techniques in the process.

Parent volunteers cut and sanded all the Jenga pieces which we then took to the kids into two sessions, in one they painted the tips with only green and white with acrylic paints, then on the other session we added a few more colors but main colors remained green and white, the kids wrote their names, their favorite things about Fernbank and the word "Learn, Grow Soar".

The Johnson Jamsters created their guitar art masterpiece in three steps:

First: each Jamster received a copy of the front page of the New York Times for the day they were born. Using warm and cool colors, they painted them with an acrylic pallet of their choice.

Second: after the masterpieces dried, the volunteers cut the painted articles into strips and the Jamsters took turns gluing pieces horizontally onto a guitar shaped piece of plywood. It was very messy and we all took home a little bit of modge podge that day!

Third: the final step was to add a few details, trim the edges and add one final coat of modge podge.

The guitar goes with this year's classroom name - Johnson's Jamsters! Each student put their unique touch on the project from start to finish. All of the individual segments of art were joined together to make one big, beautiful piece. If you look closely, you can see the layers and overlap of everything coming together. This is a great example of the bond the Jamsters have formed this school year!

The process and materials used/How kids were involved:

Using pastel drawing paper, every student's left and right hands were traced either by themselves or with help from the Fernbank art auction parent volunteers along with the art teacher, Ms.McCafferty. The students were instructed to create their own unique colorful and expressive designs using oil pastels. By applying their thoughtful creativity, they were inspired to create a diverse spectrum of beautiful "hand"crafted designs. The hands were then arranged and mounted in the striking sunburst design that you see in the finished piece. No two hands are alike which allows for the ray-like structure to have much visual interest. Ms. Norton's second grade class of 2021-2022 is a certainly stellar group of kids. This piece represents how the students' unique personalities can come together as a team of supportive and uplifting classmates.

We rolled freshly foraged ferns, flowers, and botanicals into paperclay and cut each "disk". The clay is baked and then torched to bring out the botanical imprints, painted with watercolor, and then sealed with encaustic wax before mounting on panel.

Description/Process: Just in time for summer! A custom sunprint tray and coasters with coordinating glasses and carafe.

Each of the kids gathered materials from outside and arranged them on their own piece of Sun print (cyanoprint) paper, exposed them in the Sun, and rinsed them to finish the exposure process. These pages were then turned into the tray and coaster art with resin.

Description

Giant Life Size Nutcracker is approximately 76" tall x 26" diameter and stands on an 18" diameter base. Locking casters included under for mobility. As shown, Nutcracker separates into 2 portions for easy storage.

Tall nature inspired figurine of a soldier elegantly attired in white with green faux moss grass and Fernbank fern leaf accents. The 4th grade class used hand-eye coordination to fold the white origami birds. With allot of concentration, we were able to create and string the birds together to make a beautiful garland.

The past couple years have been hard- We asked each student to reflect on words that may inspire themselves and each other. They created motivational messages such as "mistakes just show that you are growing" and "you are the best you". Each of them handwrote their own with permanent marker on decorative fabric. Their kind words and faces are used a time stamp for motivation to continue growing into the loving human beings we know they are. We will remember even during a pandemic - we didn't give up, we didn't give in. There were some big smiles behind the masks!

Our Birds Flying High Nutcracker illustrates we are united, we are stronger together and flying high. The Nutcracker is hand painted and rich in details embellished with white decorative trim and fabrics. Suitable for commercial or residential use indoors.

Description:

I first built the wood backing structure then cut scrap pieces of wood to be assembled in an interesting and pleasing design. To include students from 4th Ferretti/Love class I took the multiple pieces of scrap wood and had them each paint them with 5 different wash colors to allow wood grain to show through and to have their individual touches added to the final art piece. Once the wood pieces were painted by the students I continued to paint and stain some additional pieces of wood, then assembled the final design. Finished the art by spraying it with a matte finish clear coat and attached hanging hardware.

With all the separate beautiful colors and different types of wood and textures, I wanted these to represent all the wonderful kids at the school being from all different types of backgrounds and races, working together as one. Better Together title represents them working/living together not apart, we are ALL Better Together.

The students in Mrs. Taylor's class got their zen on by drawing zentangle patterns on paper fern leafs using sharpies. Each student has a unique pattern, and Mrs. Taylor drew in the pattern on the stem connecting all the leaves. There is a pattern key on the back of each picture indicating which student drew which pattern. The leaves and background paper are high quality art paper, and the art is framed in two 16 x 20 frames.
