"Barbie Swimmers" is an archival pigment print framed 17x 22" from the series "Barbie from 2010".
David Levinthal's photographs of vintage Barbies showcase the height of fashion from the 1950s to the early 1970s. Photographed more like real models than like toys, these dolls capture the glamour and oppressed sexuality of the post-war generations. The images strike a balance between criticism-of the idealization of the female form and the objectification of women-and kitsch-fun and colorful depictions of a familiar icon.
"Superheroes" is a triptych consisting of 3-20x24" C-Prints. "Superheroes' was created in 2004, and is the 4th piece in an edition of 12.
The photographs are face-mounted with acrylic and mounted on aluminum. Hilliard says of his multi-paneled pieces, "To me, the construction of panoramic photographs, comprised of various single images, acts as a visual language. Focal planes shift, panel by panel. This sequencing of photographs and shifting of focal planes allows me the luxury of guiding the viewer across the photograph, directing their eye; an effect which could not be achieved through a single image."

"Central Artery/Tunnel Project - Near Hanover Street, 2001" from his "Big Dig" project.
The gelatin silver prints are not editioned, were created in 2012 and printed to 13" x 18" on 16" x 20" paper. Hintlian says that "in 1997 he had an instinct to begin visiting job sites of Boston's Central Artery/Tunnel Project and recording the work. He was thrown off a site, only to move two blocks down the street and start shooting again.
His black and white photographs are an eloquent tribute not only to Boston's working men and women who dug the tunnel but to laborers everywhere."

Since 1975, pilot and photographer Alex MacLean has flown his plane over vast swathes of the United States, documenting its varied landscape. The photographs are shot at an altitude so that the scenes are still identifiable while simultaneously veering towards abstraction.

The portfolio is not a definitive study on photography, rather it is a sampling of contemporary photographers who have made their mark on the medium and have contributed greatly to shaping the spirit of the museum. In my thinking about these eleven photographers I chose images that seemed to hold together as a collective parcel and would continue to endure.

Galaxy" I made in 2020. This series is dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope. This advanced technology changed our understanding of the cosmos. Hubble reveals the astonishing journey to the edge of the Universe, colliding Galaxies, massive mysterious forces that humans barely can understand. It's a story full of challenges, determination, and the human spirit - inspiring us to expand our vision and imagination.
"Water Wall, Tokyo, Japan" is one of Arthur Meyerson outstanding photographs from his fine art series "Japan in Winter Light".
The 12 x18 archival inkjet print is of a woman walking with splashes of saturated colors enveloping her. Looking at this print it is easy to see why Meyerson is one of America's finest color photographers. He is recognized on Communication World's list of top 10 corporate photographers and named one of the 30 best advertising photographers by American Photo.
"Improvisation, Untitled #5" is an archival pigment print created in 2017 and editioned 1 of 12. The image area is printed to 15x20.75" onto 17 x 22" paper. The print is matted to 18"x24".
Ralph Mercer says that his photography muses are Bill Brandt and Harry Callahan. He says, "Both men picked up a camera loaded with black and white film and investigated their environments and personal worlds with a brilliant sense of experimentation and design. Emulating their dedication and artistic imperatives, I pursue the sensual and the abstract through camera manipulation and digital composite techniques."
