The Ellison McCraney Ingram Foundation has been created to honor the memory of Ellison McCraney Ingram, the nine-year-old son of long-time DCWAF supporters, Doug and Merrisa Ingram. Working together with Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation, a scholarship fund named in his memory has been established, and each year, a scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who has benefited from one of DCWAF's 15 partner charities throughout his or her lifetime.
Ellison, like his parents, had a heart for charity. The money he was saving for a donation to a children's charity was the first donation made to this scholarship fund that will continue his legacy.

The 2018 Pichon-Longueville Baron is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Merlot, aged for 18 months in barriques, 80% new and 20% one year old. Deep garnet-purple colored, the nose bursts from the glass with flamboyant scents of stewed black plums, crème de cassis, and Black Forest cake, plus suggestions of Indian spices, unsmoked cigars, pencil shavings, and espresso. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers impactful black fruit preserves and exotic spice layers, framed by plush tannins and a lively backbone, finishing long and spicy.
The 2010 Pontet-Canet offers a very deep garnet color, while the nose explodes with a vast array of black fruit preserves and savory nuances: plum preserves, blackcurrant cordial, black cherry coulis, and licorice with wafts of dried lavender, melted chocolate, charcuterie, black olives, truffles, and camphor plus a hint of sandalwood. The full-bodied palate is completely filled with black fruits, exotic spices, and earthy nuances with a firm foundation of ripe, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing with epic length and depth. So much more expressive and seductive than a lot of 2010s at this stage, and yet it is still incredibly youthful!
Composed of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Cabernet Franc, 9% Petit Verdot, and 6% Merlot, the deep garnet-purple 2018 Proprietary Red has a fantastically fragrant nose of candied violets, red roses, Morello cherries, and blackcurrant pastilles with hints of wild blueberries, red currant jelly, iron ore, and forest floor, plus a waft of cinnamon stick. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is completely packed with tightly wound black and red berry layers, framed by firm, ripe, finely grained tannins, and seamless freshness, finishing with incredibly persistent and evocative floral and mineral layers. Located in Knights Valley, Sonoma, the Les Pavots vineyard is located in the oldest of the estate-owned sites, planted in 1989. Composed of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot, the 2018 Les Pavots is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It needs a fair bit of coaxing to unlock the intense scents of blackcurrant preserves, ripe black plums, and boysenberries with touches of wild sage, tobacco leaf, and pencil shavings. The full-bodied palate is densely packed and tightly wound with loads of black fruits, dried herbs, and earthy layers, supported by firm, grainy tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and energetic.
First planted to vines in the 1880s, Eisele Vineyard sits in the northeast Napa Valley, just east of Calistoga at the base of the Palisades Mountain range. Farmed organically since 1998 and biodynamically since 2000, the site has been principally dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon for the last fifty years. Beginning with the inaugural release bearing the Eisele name in 1971, this iconic vineyard has receivedconsistent recognition for possessing one of the great terroirs of Napa Valley. 2018 Kistler Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir
This wine is made up of the best barrels from the vintage and is comprised of fruit from the highest elevation at Brand's Pritchard Hill estate. The wine is fermented half in French oak, half in stainless steel, and aged 22 months in French oak. The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon (100%) is deep garnet-purple colored and bursts from the glass with ripe, expressive crème de cassis, freshly crushed black berries, and plum preserve notes with touches of menthol, cinnamon stick, cedar chest, and spice box. Medium-bodied, the palate has a firm, grainy texture and oodles of freshness supporting the expressive black fruit preserves, finishing on a lingering spicy note.
Another impressive bottling for Hors Catégorie, the 2018 Syrah opens with a seductive and aromatic nose filled with smoked lavender, black raspberry skin, umami, hung meats, black olive, red and black peppercorn, and spiced plum reduction. Medium to full-bodied, it explodes on the palate, revealing a generous profile with complexity, elegance, and finesse. Flavors of turned earth, smoked cherry pie filling, spicy potpourri, and worn leather sway across the mid-palate with impeccable balance that will remain a champion for almost two decades. Complexity, concentration, and cohesiveness are hallmarks of the 2018 Elivette with layers upon layers of aromas and flavors slowly peeling open as the wine evolves in the glass. Aromas of red and blue fruits mingle with earthy forest floor, dried tea leaves, and dried fruit. As the wine further opens, tobacco leaf, violets, black currants, and sage evolve into dusty sweet sandalwood and cocoa spice. On the palate, the youthfulness of this wine initially shows tight, dark bitter cocoa before opening into earthy blue fruits, fresh fig, and dried rose petals. Structurally, the wine is broad across the palate with a lingering finish of cedar and spice. With proper cellaring this wine should age gracefully for many years to come but with proper decanting is ready to drink now.

Jay McDonald thought up the name of his winery, EIEIO while drinking with friends and family by throwing ideas around, "deciding not to take [himself] too seriously." First and foremost his winemaking is focused on the fruit that grows in the vineyard and not the other way around; made in the winery!Traditional techniques like open vat fermentation, extended cold soaks yielding more aromatics, flavors, tannin, and color, and indigenous yeast fermentation are employed to allow the character and quality of the grapes and vintage to be fully exploited. The only intervention Jay does is determining when to pick the grapes, how to sort them, the duration of fermentation, aging, and blending.

Inspired by the Sauvignon wines of northern Italy, this Sauvignon Blanc pays homage to the tart and delicious every day wine workhorse of the region of Friuli. The grapes for this wine are farmed at two vineyards in Napa Valley where the temperatures are both the warmest during the day and the coolest at night. That diversity helps produce a wine of intensity and freshness, and as such is a way to honor the winemakers in northeast Italy.

The 2013 Nicolás Catena Zapata is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Malbec from the La Pirámide, Adrianna and Nicasia vineyards. The Cabernet Sauvignon from this cool vintage seems to have a more restrained character recalling characteristics of Cabernet Franc, very classical and serious. The Saint Helena Winery estate vineyard The Saint Helena Winery estate vineyard boasts one of the most unique and compelling vineyard sites on the valley floor. Their "Sympa" Cabernet Sauvignon is a special wine grown on the south parcel, "Block One," an ancient riverbed where the loam has more sand, gravel, and stones, causing the vines to struggle and produce smaller clusters and berries. The vines are cane pruned and hand-tended to yield two clusters per shoot. Thanks to the care of winemakers Aaron Pott and Lindsay Wallingford, this estate continues to over-deliver sip after sip!

This bright and fruit driven Merlot comes from higher elevations on Spring Mountain. It is picked in the dark hours of the morning to ensure it arrives cool and undamaged. The Merlot spent an average of 20 days on its skins, much longer than average due to the extended hang time loosening the skins. The wine spent 22 months in French cooperage of which 65% was new. Different amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc were trialed, and for the first time a small amount of Petit Verdot was added to give further structure to the wine.
