Another stellar bottling, the 2018 Pere de Famille is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon with 10% Petit Verdot and 5% Merlot. Displaying a deep ruby color at the core and firm red ruby rim, the nose opens to the mineral tension expected of Red Mountain with a dark red-fruited essence, black cherry, dark plum, and dusty raspberry with an elegant oak richness and dusty red flower petals. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is rich and mineral on the palate, showing a spicy cinnamon tone that builds with a firm tannic grip. As the wine sits on the palate, it unpacks more of its complexities, showing precision and finesse. A brilliant wine, it ends with a long, lingering finish that will show beautifully for more than a decade.
In 2011, the Davis family purchased the century-old estate winery and began their ambitious restoration project to create a distinguished winery. Davis Estates is the culmination of a life long dream. Here the vision is carved from this historic site as an estate winery focused on wines of the highest pedigree.
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Phase V leaps from the glass with gorgeous cassis, Morello cherries, candied violets, chocolate box and raspberry preserves scents with underlying nuances of fragrant earth, charcoal and smoked meats. The youthfully exuberant, full-bodied palate is absolutely packed with black and red fruit layers, framed by a solid line of grainy tannins and compelling freshness, finishing long and perfumed.

VHR Cabernet is an estate-grown wine of place, the culmination of the Phillips family's evolution from grape growing to winemaking over three generations.
To produce a true wine of place, they take a minimal touch approach to winemaking: harvesting at optimal ripeness, meticulous sorting of fruit, cold-soaking, extended maceration, use of native yeast, and new French oak barrels. Grapes from VHR's selected blocks are vinified as separate lots to promote the full expression of the vineyard.

Special Auction Lot
The Ellison McCraney Ingram Foundation has been created to honor the memory of Ellison McCraney Ingram, the nine-year-old son of long-time DCWAF supporters, Doug and Merrisa Ingram. Working together with Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation, a scholarship fund named in his memory has been established, and each year, a scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who has benefited from one of DCWAF's 15 partner charities throughout his or her lifetime.
Ellison, like his parents, had a heart for charity. The money he was saving for a donation to a children's charity was the first donation made to this scholarship fund that will continue his legacy.
