About the Artist . . .

Natalie Dohman is a multi-media artist currently residing in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Natalie spent a majority of her life in a northeastern, Pennsylvania growing up in Wilkes-Barre and also Camp Hill.

Natalie holds a degree in Social Services from Harrisburg Area Community College with credits obtained from Messiah and credits also obtained for a degree towards Graphic and Interactive Arts.

Natalie was accepted in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at Humber College in Industrial Design program and also SCAD in Savannah Georgia for the Industrial Design program. Having these huge options and unsure of where her art was going to take her and being interested in working in various forms, Natalie took a hiatus from anything creative for 10 years.

After being commissioned to paint the inside of El Rancho Restaurant in Harrisburg with a Guatemalan motif, Natalie was inspired to continue to create. Natalie wanted to push her creativity and her vision a bit further, so she applied for a residency position at the Chateau D'Orquevaux in Orquevaux Feance and was accepted at the height of the pandemic in 2020. As the restrictions ease, Natalie is now solidly preparing to take her next big step in her artistic career by traveling abroad.

Natalie works both large and small and works in everything from watercolor to oil to latex house paints that the community drops off on her porch to even dance and music. Natalie plays over 5 instruments and can converse or understand 5 languages ranging from French to Mandarin.

Natalie's current works, Playlist and a Planetary Series, look at the use of color. Having synesthesia from a young age, Natalie feels and experiences most things intensely. She has created works that take how she experiences life and makes her experiences tangible and visible. Her paintings begin to become 3 dimensional with the energy of either the music or the gasses from the planets made into something the viewer can experience.

Natalie does not consider herself an artist but a colorist that manipulates color in a way that causes a physical response. She is considered an abstract artist that also toes the line on Expressionism and surrealism.

Natalie has exhibited at the Art Association of Harrisburg, the Kerlin Gallery in York, has done murals in Harrisburg, New Cumberland, Lemoyne and has one scheduled for San Diego and has taught various classes at the Carlisle Arts Learning Center and the Art Center School and Galleries in Mechanicsburg.

When Natalie isn't painting or creating, she owns a small marketing and advertising business, nDesign Art Haus, that offers services in graphic arts and photography.
