24" Medium Butterfly

She is more logical that your average butterfly. Due to her level of observation, she can easily predict the outcome of any situation preventing her from being caught baby birds or humans hands. Yes, she prefers order and predictability but is not too our of touch with her emotions to enjoy a fabulous Arizona sunset.

Inspired by the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright who is well known to residents of Phoenix. He resided in Scottsdale at his winter home from 1937-1959. Inspirations for his stained-glass windows included saguaro, cactus flowers and butterflies.

As a tribute to the contributions of this Arizona artist, this butterfly is designed to mimic the breathtaking stained-glass windows of Frank Lloyd Wright.

About the Artist...

Since moving from China, Lydia Quinones has been an Arizona resident for six years. When she's not teaching high school art, she's focused on ceramics, weaving, and painting for private commissions. Her public paintings, which are recognizable by their bright colors, can be found on benches and parking meters in downtown Phoenix and Glendale. Her art works usually address aspects of Chinese culture or Arizona history, incorporating her experiences of living in Asia with her fascination with the Southwest. In 2020, her butterfly contribution to Flutter at the Fountain received the second highest bid.
