This is a truly unique piece of art that Alexi makes. It is a handcrafted porcelain milk bottle. "Have You Seen Me?" is a work of art that transports the iconic 1980s era "kid on the milk carton" missing person campaign back in time to specific African societies during the Atlantic Slave Trade. The portraits of the missing person on these fictional dairy bottles are real people taken from archival sources left to us by the economic enterprise of slavery. The artwork collaborates with African first-language speakers to create the text for the bottles. Project translators personally choose historically accurate names for those portrayed on the milk bottle. Their actual names have been lost to slavery. The project encompasses 10 unique bottles in limited editions of 50. This work has been seen at the American Museum of Ceramic Art, The Andy Warhol Museum, The Carnegie Museum of Art and The Society of Contemporary Craft.
