About the Item

Years ago JG Braun donated some of their stamped mild steel leaf samples to the Museum. When some of these specimens were deaccessed from the collection, Clemons thought they would make interesting forms to respond to in the creation of a piece of jewelry. The resulting brooch includes some of the steel leaves combined with sterling silver and bone.

About the Artist

Clemons completed a painting BFA at the University of Texas in Austin. He earned his MFA in Metalsmithing in 2007 from San Diego State University. Clemons was fortunate to have the opportunity to developed and head the Metalsmithing and Jewelry Department at the University of Arkansas in Little Rock, Arkansas for 8 years.
