About the Item

Pony Hammer was made using cast Iron, felt, and steel. Featured in the "Art on the Prairie" exhibition in Colby, KS, this work is part of a series relating to horse power as it is presented to the gendered female girl. This work is meant to imbue functional utility with "girliness."

About the Artist

Cassi Rebman is a sculptor and installation artist from Belle Plaine, MN. She is an MFA candidate at Hays University (Hays, KS), received her BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (Minneapolis, MN), is an alumna of Franconia Sculpture Park (Schafer, MN), and is a former Foundry Apprentice at the Metal Museum. As an artist, her work responds to the question - "What are we capable of, and what might be holding us back?" Her work explores human mortality, psychological susceptibility, dependence, and codependence.
