About the Artist
Richard Mawdsley, born in Winfield, Kansas, is a metal artist specializing in intricate fabricated work using tubing, and is currently working with carved vessels using CNC machining technology. He is Professor Emeritus at Southern Illinois University School of Art and Design, having retired in 2004. Including a previous faculty position at Illinois State University, he taught at the university level for a total of 36 years. Before completing a Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Kansas, he received an undergraduate degree from Emporia State University, Kansas, in 1967.
