About the Artist

Stephanie Savic Polk received a BFA from Denison University and a MFA in sculpture from Washington University, Sam Fox School of Design in St. Louis, Mo. In her career she has moved through a multitude of scales ranging from urban installations to small elements for the body. In the last two decades she has been mostly focused on intimate work incorporating handmade glass, enamels, precious metals and stones through metalsmithing technics. The human figure has always been a feature in her work and through elements that adorn the body; material, weight, scale, shape and technique are explored.

Stephanie has exhibited throughout the Southeast and Midwest. She has received several fellowships from the Florida Society of Goldsmiths and was an Artist in Residence at the National Ornamental Metal Museum in Memphis from June 2010 to June 2011. She has also taught in several institutions both for adults and children, most recently at the NOMM, May 2016 as well as two Teaching Assistantships for North Country Studio Workshops in Bennington, VT in Jan. 2018 and Jan. 2020. Exhibitions in Memphis, TN, include QUEEN FOR A DAY, at Overton Park Gallery, Nov., 2014 and INCHES FROM THE EARTH, at the National Ornamental Metal Museum, March 2016 and The Art of Serving at Diane's Art Gift Home, November 2017. More recently outside of Memphis she had a solo exhibition at 529 N Dawson in Thomasville, GA, November 2019.
