About the Artist

Dolph Smith is a longtime educator, painter, and bookmaker. Dolph taught for many years at the Memphis College of Art (MCA) before his retirement in 1995. He holds an Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts from MCA. In 2011, he received Tennessee's highest honor in the arts, the Governor's Arts Award in the Distinguished Artist Award category. He now lives in Ripley, TN where he calls his home Tennarkippi. Dolph has also been recognized as a Director Emeritus at the Metal Museum.
